PlexWatch and PlexWatchWeb installation and configuration procedure for dummies (Windows)

Have you considered taking a clean config.pl file and changing only the settings required to get it to function with your Plex and push notifications and see if that resolves it? Or at least comparing a fresh config to yours to see what setting may be causing this.

Yes I did but I’ll give it another go by starting from scratch

Thank you for taking the time to help me

After deleting everything to do with plexWatch and doing it all over it finally works

Whoop!

nice! sometimes a fresh start is best. glad you got it all working. youre very welcome.

I just noticed that my plexWatch stopped working on 4/17.  I got it up and running on 3/27 and check it periodically.  I noticed that the Hourly Plays had stopped working a week or so ago, but just thought it might be a bug.  I just restarted the server it runs on and it still doesn't work  plexWatch still pulls up and the Now Playing section still works, it is just no longer logging anything.  Anyone else had this issue?

I have a similar problem, everything works for days at a time, and then for no reason (at least any I can find) it just quits.  It does work fine with a computer reboot though.  In my case, I can run the scheduled task manually or use the command line to the plexWatch.exe file and plexWatch/web updates, but only the one time either command runs.  I think it must be a glitch in plexWatch, not the web interface.

I found the issue.  My plexWatchNotify.vbs script had stopped running.  I restarted it and everything is back to normal.  Just FYI in case anyone else has the same issue.

Yea, windows tasks can be unreliable sometimes. But you can probably set up a warning when the task doesn't run properly...

Hi has anyone had this problem.  it literally happened overnight, everything else works fine, and it all used to work fine for ages.  Have no idea what has caused it or how to fix it.

Thanks

Have you tried restarting PMS?

Hi Guys,

I have had PlexWatchWeb up and running for around a week now and it's great, I just wanted to ask some of the more experienced users what kind of response rate to expect while navigating between pages?

I have a new Pc (i7 4790k, 32GB DDR3 RAM and 500GB SSD) but seem to get a lag of up to 8-10 seconds moving between user/history pages etc. I appreciate that CPU and Ram may not be the bottle neck and it might be the apache web-server but this is the first time I have installed a local web-server so not sure what to expect?

Thoughts & recommendations welcome

Regards

Tylor

Firewall, AV or any security service that could be filtering activities on the web server maybe?

Just shooting in the dark...

Me, it's almost instant between pages (server i5 with ssd).

Also, how big is your database? (you could test with a new empty one to see if it's related...)

I have a AMD-8350 with the OS on a 500gb HDD and I get about 200-400ms page loads.

Thanks guys there's definitely something amiss then as sometimes it can take 15 seconds to get from user page back to homepage.

I run a NO-IP redirect so I can access this outside my network but the issue also seems to be there when using localhost in the URL, I have tried adding port 3306 (Mysql) to inactive in my Kaspersky firewall settings but still a lag!

Any other things I could check/test?

Thanks again

Tylor

I run i5 3570k, 8GB, 512GB SSD.

My load times vary locally and remotely. Usually pretty quick. I also use Dynamic DNS from No IP. OUtside my network it still pretty responsive but at times can load a little slow. Nothing like 15sec though.

I thought as much, any ideas on further settings to test that could impact load times?

ive tried everything, apart from reinstalling it, and don't really fancy doing that again.

You could try running the dev version of PWW, my understanding is that it does some server-side work rather than sending the majority of the data to the client for processing. I have both available at different addresses, no problem running both simultaneously, but the history page for the dev version completes loading much quicker on my phone / from a remote location.

Beyond that, you might try setting up another website for some other service and seeing if performance is iffy with that one too.

Yes that's correct. The master version will load your entire history into the browser every time you open the history page. If you have a large db then this can impact performance significantly. The dev version only sends one page of data at a time.
