I’ll be honest, I’m frustrated. I can’t understand why Plex is making my life more complicated than it has to be. I noticed that my volume is much lower in PMP than in web player or other media players on my PC so I had to spend half an hour looking for solution.
- The settings menu is only accessible in TV mode, why?? No, it’s not obvious.
- Why is ‘Normalize downmixed volume’ enabled by default?? It shouldn’t be.
- Ideally, normalizer should not reduce the overall volume. It should reduce dynamic range. The end result would be that it’s easier to hear silent parts and loud parts stay the same. It should not call for your tv/pc volume to be increased.
Finally, it seems like you have already discussed this in 2015!!! and people had some great comments and suggestions like this (it’s about pht, but it doesn’t matter):
“Was normalization enabled by default in PHT? If not, its an option that should be off be default ideally. It does audibly effect the dynamic range of a mix, and since most people may not know what it means and never look into the option, they will by default get a narrower mix.”
