Thanks @MikeTeavee
I saw that page, but I’m wondering if using the device for PM4K would change anything with regards to picking hardware, since I will only use the device for PM4k (which has a better interface than Plex HTPC).
In AddonSettings (outside of PM4K, long press on the icon)
Good decision I think, unless you need DV. If you want DV, the Ugoos might be a better solution (but with its own issues).
I’d like to throw the shield pro into the mix as well. Especially with the latest stable update, this still is one of, if not the best streaming box available.
Yes, it has progressively been implemented, since about a year ago iirc, first with only profile 5 tonemaping, I think.
Now, things have come a long way, although still in Testing phase.
If I may, everything is very well explained in the respective wiki entry.
EDIT: @AllanMarcus , if you don’t need FEL and you were already happy with the Vero 4K, you should get the Vero V. I felt some significant improvement from the Vero 4K+, when I got mine about a year ago. Furthermore, PM4K has been pretty stable here. Besides, you’ll keep your wife happy, which is something a guy shouldn’t ignore.
Is it normal that this one file is modified every day and I have to restart Plex and CoreElec. Is there any way to get around or ignore this? What does the modification do and is it important? It’s kind of annoying to have to stop everything and start again in the long run. Apparently you can’t integrate it into the startup process, otherwise it would certainly have happened already. Can someone enlighten me as to why?
Let me be the first to ask “what file?” I run PM4K in CoreELEC and don’t experience this. The only restarts I have to do is when a new beta comes thro and I’m grateful for them.
Just go to Settings/System and uncheck Check for updates and Check for updates at startup and you won’t have to be bothered again…
By the way, you sound really ungrateful and impolite, considering that the dev is putting these efforts for free and out of his spare time to make this addon better and better. Nobody is forcing you to use it, but if you do, show a little gratitude…
I didn’t mean to complain, PM4K is great. Mega awesome!
Only the “advancedsettings.xml” file is modified every day and I then have to quit and restart Plex and Kodi. That’s a bit annoying and I don’t know why it has to be that way or whether you don’t necessarily need it or whether you can or are allowed to switch it off somehow?
Are you referring to plex.direct mapping?
If so, you can go to Settings → Network → Handle plex.direct mapping and choose.
Maybe you have it with Notify selected. If you choose Always or Never, you won’t be bothered again.
Yes, ok, but if the file is modified and I am asked to quit and restart Kodi, does it have to be good and necessary for something? Simply ignoring or turning off the notification cannot be the solution. I just have no idea what is being changed there and why does this have to happen every day? If I don’t need what’s happening there, it would actually be nice if I could do without it.
Otherwise, it would be nice if the file was modified before it was started for the first time and then you didn’t have to restart every time, if that were possible.
It’s the plex.direct mapping. Do you have servers in your account that are based on dialup IPs (thus changing their IPs often)?
If you want this to go away, you can turn off the plex.direct handling in PM4K and add plex.direct to your router’s DNS rebind protection exemption list.
The necessity of this stems from what Plex detects as a local or remote server. If you don’t have a local server, you can turn this off entirely.
There’s a description for the Handle plex.direct mapping option.
If it’s necessary for something, depends of your network environment. Always does exactly the opposite of simply ignoring. With it, the file is modified and you don’t have to restart every time. Besides, it turns off the notification indeed.
If you don’t need what’s happening there and you think you could do without it, you can choose Never.
I use Shield Pro 2019 as Plex Server and I use Ugoos AM6B Plus as Plex Player with CoreElec CPM A13 and PM4K as Addon. So want to use DirectPlay in local area.
What exactly I have to do?
Attention with the latest stable SHIELD update: it seems like Kodi falls back to the AudioTrack (RAW) packer for the passthrough device after the upgrade.
If you’re using audio passthrough, make sure to enable the AudioTrack (IEC) packer again.
I just had similar audio seek delay issues as the CoreELEC guys do until I fixed that.
