I see your post but there’s no test there either.
I’ve done several in the past, the latest explainer would be: PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+) - #3974 by panni
And no, no one’s tested this lately. There have been tests done by other platforms.
Quoting the Kodi Wiki entry about NFS:
It allows the the same features by reaching a better performance (due to less protocol overhead)
Edit: Another one: PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+) - #2791 by panni
Yeah I see all the paper claims…I’ll do a quick test video later to end the theory debate ![]()
Probably also depends on the hardware of the server. Exposing streaming data natively via the kernel and NFS might make a difference.
Well no need for even a video - zero difference here running native server on a synology 1019+. SMB chuck size 1MB, I copied gemini man to a new smb share, never played it on this box, nothing in cache. Start, chapter play, resume, can’t tell a thing.
One question (or feature suggestion, if i may)
When having multiple servers available and doing a search in the official Plex app - it shows you the query and from whatever server it may be on.
In PM4K - as far as i’m managed to search - you only get results from within the server you have selected. Is there a special setting i’m missing ?
Basically a GLOBAL search feature to search on all servers connected to the account in one click
Thank you!
Hello panni.
The original Plex client supports “theme.mp3” files in the respective movie or series folder, and they play automatically when you are at the “information screen” from a movie or series.
Could you support this with PM4K as well?
Do you already have a time window in which you will release 0.8.1?
Best regards!

I actually prefer the default HTTP. The status in Tautulli reflects quicker, which I use for several lighting automations.
Everything starts quick and even the most high bit rate content streams perfectly.
My server runs off Windows, so I’m guessing mileage varies based on OS.
Very well may come down to the server.
Thanks for the tip. I hadn’t implemented the allowmultichannelfoat line previously. I didn’t realize that this would improve FireCube 3 as well. I had thought this was for the older Fire Cube 2?
Interesting idea. I might add that to the current beta as it’s really easy to implement.
Not yet. I was planning to release it in January, but I’ve got too much to do at work at the moment. I’ll hopefully be able to finish it soon.
Wow!
Thanks a lot for this information.
Can’t wait for it. (-:
Another idea:
To ensure that you always get something out of the “theme.mp3,” it would also be great if, when you select a movie (or series) from the “continue watching” section, the film doesn’t start immediately, but instead takes you to the movie (or series) information page.
Sometimes you don’t just want to continue watching the movie (or series), but perhaps read the content again or the technical data of the film (or series) or whatever before pressing the play button to continue it.
Perhaps you could also add this as a setting in the options, where you can choose for yourself to get to the “information screen” or if you want to continue the movie (or series) directly.
Best regards!
Agreed
That’s a setting already. It’s called “always resume media” “Home: Resume in-progress items” in the main settings area.
Ah ha that’s what that does!
Yeah. Alternatively you can long press OK/ENTER on in progress items and visit them instead, if the setting is on.
Edit: oh wait, no. It’s the one below that one I’m talking about. “Home: Resume in-progress items”
Edit 2: “Always resume” simply assumes you don’t want to choose between resuming and starting over and resumes by default. You can still just long press for more options
I’ve written so much above.
All for nothing. Hahaha!
Thanks, I didn’t know that either.
witch Ubuntu version do you prefer to use kodi with your PM4K with working HDMI Passtrough DTS-HD Audio?
Ok, reporting a little bug.
Subtitles don’t show without doing a seek first (backwards or forwards, doesn’t matter)
Running latest beta on Am6b+ with latest CPM (A14) release.
Thank you
