PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+)

DUDE that is exactly how I would love it to look!!

I just got done adapting the template file. Seems like it’s working perfect. If you want it drop the file inside that zip in userdata/addon_data/script.plexmod/templates (I had to make the templates folder). Toggle the setting @panni mentioned in the app settings for a single launch, and your small poster view should look like that. Let me know if you find any issues.

I didn’t realize how simple it would be to change. I might do the big poster view too.

Drop me a DM. We should take the discussion off of this thread as I imagine we’ll talk a lot about templates now.

You have all the power now, as you can also edit the inherited templates, add necessary blocks, and tell me about those you need in order to make this great (and more permanent).

You might be able to tell that I’m slightly excited for somebody to actually use what I’ve built! Great!

Edit: and you seem capable of understanding jinja2 template inheritance, or at least how this system works

haha, I will for sure. I was worried about being a burden even asking about it earlier. This could be a lot of fun.

Hi all,

I have PM4K installed on CoreELEC 21.3 and I’m noticing errors in kodi.log stating it cannot find plex.direct.

The usual fix would be to access the Router and whitelist plex.direct but I don’t have access to the Router.

CE is configured for DHCP.

Is there something I can do on CE to resolve this issue?

TIA

Greg

PM4K should take care of it and modify your advancedsettings.xml automatically if you let it. If it didn’t detect (all) domains, go to Settings > Network and enable “Force plex.direct mapping”.

Then restart PM4K; it should give you a notice about plex.direct. If it doesn’t please use the PM4K Log Uploader from the repository and report back.

Edit: You didn’t say whether you had actual issues using PM4K, though. If you don’t it’s likely you can ignore those errors.

Thanks for the reply.

Enabled “Force plex.direct mapping” | got the message to allow changes to advanced settings | got a message to restart Kodi.

Rebooted and have checked that advancedsettings.xml was created and entries added.

Yes, I was getting issues. Posters were not being displayed and most of the errors related to unable to find them.

Should I now be good to go?

Thanks again,

Greg

EDIT: Got no message about plex.direct after rebooting.

Yep then everything’s fine now. In certain network setups (especially Docker) Plex doesn’t properly tag local/remote connections. Forcing them forces us to try and resolve all hosts and we add the ones that fail. Adds a couple of milliseconds of boot time, so no issues keeping it enabled.

I haven’t noticed any problems yet using avdvplus test build with LAV audio, been watching GOT DV FEL, everything smooth, using 77” S95F + Sony Quads.

Huh? The S95F doesn’t support Dolby Vision, and therefore not FEL either.

Well he said he has DV FEL, maybe he converts to HDR10+.

it might not support it, but I get the DV FEL goodies using these CoreELEC builds CPM/avdvplus, it’s sent as HDR10 signal but with the DV metadata injected.

Sorry, but Gemini said to me

Don’t do chatbot pastes, please.

This is bullshit already:

HDR10+ isn’t a proprietary standard and DV could be converted to it on the fly if configured.

Edit: Just because the chatbot seems knowledgable about something, almost never means it actually knows stuff.

This is somewhat true, but the chatbot obviously doesn’t know about the VS10 engine in CPM.

That doesn’t help your case much tbh

I’m pretty sure the conversion options of VS10 only apply towards DV, not DV→HDR10+

Edit: Starting the off-topic timer in 3, 2, 1.

From my undestanding of how all this stuff works is as follows:

Bluray disks are backwards compatible to HDR (10 bit), so for the DV stuff to work there needs to be an enhancement layer: MEL or FEL.

For both of these the player is responsible of recreating the 12bit stream.

Since the Samsung tv doesn’t have DV, the box will not create the DV tunnel thingie (for TV LED dolbyvision), but rather will do the processing on the box - this is what avdvplus did in his builds - he process the dv stream and then outputs it via hdr.

If player-led, that might actually be possible. TV-led simply wouldn’t work as the metadata is discarded.

Edit: @Gilgamesh Yep, your link pretty much confirms that you have some benefit of DV, but only the tone mapping part.

Edit 2: It’s weird that CPM/VS10 can’t dynamically create HDR10+ metadata, though. It’s definitely possible. I guess it’s just a missing feature at this point.
