PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+)

Ah, as florinvlaicu wrote - I was referring to the Khadas VIM Amlogic boards - they are very powerful Amlogic sbcs

I will try the Plextuary CPM skin!

“Show stream info” button seems to randomly not work, it’s very temperamental. Also on occasion it will revert to the kodi info not the pm4k info (along the top of the display rather than the bottom)

cpm skin, am6b+, cpm a14 build

Hi again panni, since I was on the subject of “blank black background” in the bug I posted above, would it be possible to add a richer deeper black to your Background Color selection field such as the one that the official plex app employs? The official plex app has a deep rich black that looks quite nice and almost “shiny” while the pm4k #00000 looks ummm kinda drab/grey (as you can see in my pics above).

Perplexity AI says “The core background color used in the official Plex application’s dark theme is a very deep black with the hex code #191919 or a very close variant, such as #282a2d"

But I don’t know if AI is right, just wondering if there is a way to improve on your background dark color. Thanks for your time

Umm:

That’s the blackest we can get. Looks also very black to me in the UI. It’s possible your TV handles contrast differently as the native Plex app is a bit darker in general?

If it’s temperamental it could mean that it doesn’t receive the session info from the Plex server fast enough (or not at all). Would need logs to take a look.

I’ll take a look, thanks!

Somehow I can’t reproduce this at all. Tried your exact steps. Can anyone else?

Edit: Was able to reproduce. You never set a background color, but kept the Kodi default (“-” or “00000000”). Set it to black explicitly and the issue goes away. Will be fixed, thanks!

Edit 2: If you kept it at the default, it might explain they greyness of your background as well.

What’s your exact config in PM4K? Do you use alternate seek? Also what do you mean with “works”. Does it seek back on start and some issue still happens or doesn’t it do that at all?

Need more details!

Edit: Yes, at least in your vim3 log you have alternate seek enabled and it does what it’s supposed to do. What’s the issue?

Oh yup, that was it exactly. Nicely troubleshot  I have now actually selected the deepest black instead of just leaving the default. Cheers

And ya, regarding the black background, unfortunately pm4k looks so drably grey even with the deepest black (0000) selected unlike the android official plex app that has almost inky black when “High Contrast” background is selected. The difference can definitely be seen in the pic below (in the official plex app you can even see my reflection hmmm)

Either your TV is terrible or this really isn’t black at all.

This is very much black.

Edit: You did restart PM4K after changing the AddonSettings, right? They don’t stick when PM4K is minimized.

I probably didn’t coz I switched around different colors and now finally the black has stuck. Holy christ, ya that’s black  I knew my Sony 85” couldn’t be that bad haha

@panni

Hi panni!

Bug Report:

Since the update to 1.1.4 beta 1, the codec logo is no longer displayed for nearly almost all media.

I have the VS engine active since i used pm4k.

In version 1.1.3 beta 4.3 (and bevor), the codec logos were still displayed for all my media (Dolby Vision, Atmos, etc.).

Best regards
legendos

which CoreELEC build do you use?

I use the same beta and the codecs logos are displayed just like before.

I’ve had the AM6B+ since February 2025.

Since then I’ve been using “CoreELEC-Amlogic-ng.arm-21.2-Omega_20250302082815.A14” and PM4K.

@korbus47

Are you also using VS Engine?

Have you tried SD Content? At least there, codec logos are no longer displayed.

I rolled back to version 1.1.3.

It works there.

I’ve taken a closer look at this.

When I start a video for the first time, no codec logo appears.

If I stop the video and start it again, the codec logo appears.

However, this isn’t the case with all videos. For example, the codec logo always appears with Top Gun: Maverick.

I’ve also noticed this happenes allthough with version 1.1.3.

I can’t say which version this started in, so I’ve now upgraded to 1.1.4.

Not often, but last time I did (2-3 days ago), it displayed the logos.
Same for SD (1080p, not lower) content.

Which skin are you using?

I think it’s due to the Plextuary CoreELEC CPM skin and not with the PM4K versions.

When I configure the Plextuary CoreELEC CPM skin to display the logo in the top right corner of the OSD, it doesn’t appear at all.

This isn’t a problem with an older version (like 4.0.0-pm4k1.4cpm.a14.4) of this Skin; everything works fine there, no issues!

Which skin are you using?

Hi panni! (-:

Please take a look at my post above.

It probably is. You have to tell me which Plextuary CPM versions you’re talking about. Blanket statements don’t help at all with debugging when this started happening.

Also please tell me the codec logo display duration you’ve set.

No need to separately ping me, I’m active in this thread.

Edit: Do you have blackout enabled during seek on start?
