PMS 1.13.4.5271 unable to install

I am getting the same error - but after running thru the whole install, I get an error saying

Unable to create symlink /Applications/Plex Media Server.app.new/Contents/Frameworks/Growl.framework/Growl to Versions/Current/Growl details: File exists

Then it restarts, and tells me there is an update available - Not a slow internet problem - any ideas
?

@tadl

Where did that deb file come from?

There is no “Growl” component in Plex Media Server.

PS: I have moved this to a new topic as the other is not related and already marked solved

Thats actually copied and pasted from the dialog box that comes up every time I’ve tried to install. I’ve tried 3 or 4 times -

My wife opened plex to watch a show on her computer that we had recorded on our server, she got a dialog about an update, so she let it install, but got an error message, at which point she got me - I did not see her error -

I went to my computer, logged into our mac mini server via screen sharing, and there was an error message from plex about the failed install on the server screen. I decided to restart the server, after plex opened, i got the notice of an update, told it to install, it downloaded fine, the install process seemed to be fine, the progress bar got to the end, and then I got that error message. I tried a couple more times, same each time.

Not sure what more I can do - but let me know -

Thanks - Tad

Again I ask:

Where did the deb come from ?

What is this because there is no “Growl” component native to PMS.

Also, those pathnames are not valid in Linux

Sadly, there appears to exist a small glitch in the auto updater that causes this problem from time to time. Please just download and install PMS manually:

FYI: I will change the tag to mac in a minute.

Problem solved - went into the app folder on the server, and saw a folder that said something like Plex new (unfortunately, I don’t remember) alongside the Plex app icon, so I just deleted that folder, opened the server app, and told it to install the update when it told me one was available, and everything went perfectly - Thanks!!!

I have had the same error verbatim on the same system & setup… but I’m still able to stream to my Samsung and PS4 as well as Mac-top - I just can’t update, even locally on the MacMini. I’ll DL and Install the latest PMS server today. I just don’t want to lose my library’s ‘watched’ data.
