PMS version 1.17.0.1709 appears to be breaking DVR on Windows. Updated two servers yesterday, and all scheduled recordings scheduled for last night failed, with output files showing as having 0 byte sizes. Recording a show manually causes the recording to stop within 2-3 minutes.
This is repeatable on two separate Windows installations:
Windows Server 2016 Essentials running bare metal on HP ProLiant Gen 10 server
Windows 8.1 Pro running in Hyper-V
Both PCs are fully patched and up to date.
Tuners are HDHomeRun Prime and Connect, verified working (can watch live TV over the network in the HDHR app on Windows). Using latest HDHR software for Windows from Silicon Dust.
I had to restore the VM from a backup and manually uninstall / reinstall Plex on the bare metal system in order to get back to 1.16.6.1592 where recordings are working again.
Thanks for the update, similar system/tuners to you so I’m holding off upgrading. I was following the issues in the beta testing thread of this one and there were many, so I was flabbergasted they actually released it.
Hi Mike, thank you for the reply. I can do this with a bit of work–I have already rolled back both systems, but I can roll one forward to capture logs of the issue. However, I’ve not posted logs here before. Can you explain the best way to do that, and how to identify the correct log to post?
Okay, I have rolled forward one of the machines. To make sure we actually captured relevant info, I attempted to manually record a couple of shows this morning: both recordings ended within a minute of starting, and just as before, and resulted in .ts output files having 0 byte size.
I’ve uploaded the logs that I downloaded following these attempts. Hopefully this will tell you something. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.
Having the same problem. Mine’s on an NVIDIA shield but with similar (transcoder) errors. It was running great for the last 2 weeks recording everything I threw at it. I scanned the change log and didn’t see much of a risk, but I’m really disappointed now.
Here’s yours:

Thanks for the update Mike. FYI, I am leaving town for a couple of weeks, so I can’t work on this for a bit. When I get back I’ll try to update again and see where things stand. I’ll report back here.
I have an update on this. I installed 1.18.0.1944 and now both Live TV and DVR seems to be working. Not sure what changed, but for now, all looks good.
