1.18.4.2171 Has just been released. But reading some of the forums it mentions this in the subject but the post is months old.
I am still getting crashes after updating to this version when using hardware acceleration.
I see now there is an advanced setting to disable Use hardware-accelerated video encoding
Are there still bugs with Intel Drivers and PMS? Should I really look at a GPU? I di have an i5-8400 which should do a decent job.
Yes running headless
I have just seen another post with a different driver that says it works without crashing so just tried to update to that. I was running a different version of the Intel Driver that was working fine with older PMS (Last year) when this issue first started and I was fine. It wasn’t until the latest version of PMS now I have the issue.
Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get the GPU card. Help with converting my videos from 264 to 265 ha ha ha.
Appears to be all fixed I had to force update to Intel Driver 26.20.100.7584 by removing the old one restarting and installing and restarting. Appears to be fixed.
I might look at getting the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and applying the driver hack for unlimited sessions
I still don’t see the value in moving from intel QSV to dedicated GPU for plex functionality. What are you hoping to gain? the intel QSV ASIC has the widest feature set and equal performance and quality fo nvidia from what I have seen. dedicated cards are a great solution if you don’t have the ideal intel CPU, but your i5-8400 is as good as it gets for media encode / decode features in plex.
