Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171-ac2afe5f8
Player Version#: web
This morning I updated to 1.18.4.2171-ac2afe5f8 and noticed that the server crashed upon playing content. I reverted to a stable version and later to the penultimate version 1.18.4.2164-2aa83397b.
This all made no change.
Plex kept crashing.
In the logs I could find no clue.
I then noticed a similar (closed) thread where they suggest to turn off “hardware acceleration”.
This turned out to work.
It strikes me as strange that reverting to an older version doesn’t fix the issue as well.
I do would like to have that feature back. My server is running on an i5-8400 which has an Intel UHD 630 graphics adapter which always worked well.
until today I did not have any crashes of the plex media server. the problem immediately began after updating today.
I regularly update the server and assume 2164 is not that old.
which driver are you speaking about?
an Intel driver or one of Plex?
the Intel HD630 driver is of september 25th of this year. According to Intel this is the latest
I was at first not aware your (Dr_Tone) post was a link to another thread. I read it on a phone.
It was quite hard and risky to update the driver, but I succeeded.
It’s now working with hardware acceleration.
It was hard/risky because I only have RDP-access to my server until beginning next year. I needed to de-install the graphics driver before the installation program wanted to proceed with the install. After the reboot it still looked messy, so I ran the installation again. This properly installed the November driver and now I’m able to use hardware acceleration.
