Lately I’ve been having a lot of transcoder errors. Browsing through the “plex Media Server.log” the following sequence appears as I tray to play Carnival Row - S01E01 - Some Dark God Wakes - WEBDL-1080p-AMRAP.mkv with dutch subtitles on (named as the file but with .nl.srt as an extension):
Nov 08, 2020 01:19:18.742 [3992] DEBUG - Calculated media file path for path [file://synology/Series/Carnival%20Row/Season%2001/Carnival%20Row%20-%20S01E01%20-%20Some%20Dark%20God%20Wakes%20-%20WEBDL-1080p-AMRAP.nl.srt]: [“synology/Series/Carnival Row/Season 01/Carnival Row - S01E01 - Some Dark God Wakes - WEBDL-1080p-AMRAP.nl.srt”]

Since the file is accessed over SMB, I noticed that at least in the log files, the \ is missing in front of the .srt file.
Placing the media on a local drive fixes the issue. So does mapping the \synology\Series share to a Z:. But UNC paths (not ending in a \ or /, I checked!) don’t work in this situation.
[EDIT] Even here a double \ translates to a single \ in the sentence above.
test:
hashtag slash slash: #\
accent slash slash: '\
slash slash slash: \
slash slash slash slash: \\
slash slash slash: \\
weird.
