PMS can't get through 30 minutes without freezing.....what happened?

Hi guys, I really need help! With the kids home in quarantine my PMS broke at the absolute worst time!
We can’t get through 30 minutes os anything - 1080p, 4k, it doesn’t matter - on my Shield (hardwired) the stream just freezes. On the Fire Stick 4K (wifi), it freezes and give me the message that the stream can not be played at this time. Try restarting both the app and server.
The PMS is running on a Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.1 box. It’s been running great for over 2 years and all of a sudden this happened. Here is part of the Debugging Log from this morning when it last happened. We were watching on a Fire Stick 4K, streaming over wifi. Please let me know if any other info is needed. Any help at this time would literally be a life saver! Hopefully this is enough of the log.

If your finding this issue with Android Clients like the Fire TV stick there are a number of related topics on here in the forums that address it.

Update the Fire TV stick OS and get the latest Plex Client …

The wall of text isn’t necessary - or welcome - but go to:
Server/Settings/Network
Terminate session paused for longer than: 0 minutes.

Will keep things going - I know 'cause I have to monitor streams for ‘pauses’ for longer than 1 minute and terminate them manually - 'cause that setting at 0 does EXATCLY FRICKIN NOTHING for terminating paused streams, but does keep streams going instead of randomly pausing them!

Me and My FireTV Victims are waiting for the fix Plex is scrambling to get out to their Pet Shield Projects - and it may be YEARS before Plex even remembers they have an app on FireTV.

It’s a known bug in the Android Clients… The latest OS update and Client should fix the problem.

Unfortunately - no update ever comes for my FireTV.

No, I’m not ‘side-loading’ anything.
While I might - Aunt Gladys can’t - so I’ll stick with what she has so I’ll know what we’re dealing with.

  1. the update only fixed the issue on Shield/Android TV
  2. Waiting the required 400 days for an update to appear on the Amazon App Store for FireTV.

Don’t hold your breath in anticipation. I just updated mine and still freezes on stick 4k. So does my shield with the update.
With my kids home I can’t deal with this right now so I’m using a different option, at least for now. Maybe after the quarantine I’ll revisit.

I’m also having this same issue. I have tried even mirroring the server to eliminate it being a server hardware issue. Weird thing is it started maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago. Any updates on this?

I have the '17 Shield and Fire Stick 4k. Nydave, above, says he’s running 7.30 but on the Amazon store the latest version is 7.29, updated March 19. Maybe this new version just hasn’t hit yet? My shield is running 7.30… But it’s still freezing up as of Saturday. Haven’t tried it since.

Would you mind making certain DEBUG logging is on, VERBOSE logging is off, then recreate the failure?

The server logs should show what’s happening.

This is tagged in Linux (server) but I really think we need address this as a client problem and work that way.

I have a shield pro 2019 with 7.30 and haven’t yet experienced any problems.
I don’t have any other android devices so my testing abilities are limited.

I believe you can download 7.30 . I am busy with another task at the moment but can find the path in a bit if needed. It should be the same technique as all others.
