PMS certificate stuck with 429 / unknown ca

Hi Team,
After rebuilding my Plex config, some clients stopped connecting:

  • PS5: server not visible
  • Plex for Mac: error 4294967283
  • Remote Access: not reachable / flapping
  • Plex Web and Samsung TV work normally

Server Version#: 1.43.4.10903-e5521bd8c

PMS logs show:

CERT: incomplete TLS handshake … tlsv1 alert unknown ca

I removed certificate.p12 to force a new certificate, but Plex.tv returns:

ERROR - CERT: Error acquiring new certificate:
Failed to retrieve cert from plex.tv: 429, local_rate_limited

Could you please check/reset the certificate provisioning for my server?

Machine Identifier:
11fde96a82d544cf4fcbc8f2cc00d67285755429

Thank you very much
Luca

if it helps, I tried following Veejay’s advice from another post:

veeejay Plex Pass

You can try to force the cert to refresh. Stop plex, go to the Cache directory in the Plex Media Server folder, remove (don’t delete) the *.p12 file, and start plex back up. It should download a new cert.

but no luck

The 429 error would require someone from Plex or one of the mods that has access to reset the cert of remove the rate limit (if that’s possible), otherwise you have to wait for the rate limit to be lifted.

Thanks for replying so quickly! How long does the 429 last?

I’m not sure..but you can shut the server down so it doesn’t keep trying. Confirm there are no permissions issues that may be causing your server to keep getting unclaimed/request a new cert

@BigWheel anything you can do to remove the rate limit, or is it best to wait it out?

It’s reset
