429 error on fresh install

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: n/a

Hi, I’m in the process of putting together a new Plex server and apparently it’s hit a rate limit for grabbing the SSL cert? I disabled wan access for Plex for just over 12 hours, but still received the same error again when reconnected. Do I need to wait longer or is something else going on? Thankyou!

Oct 24, 2025 10:29:05.431 [137499888728888] ERROR - CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <errors> <error code="1003" message="API rate limit exceeded" status="429"/> </errors>

@camx

I looked at Plex.tv.

Your server’s certificate got stuck in generation.

You were getting the 429 for the CSR because another was already processing.

I cleared the existing. It has now created a new one.

Please restart the server.

Hey, ChuckPa! Is there any way you could reset my cert also? I am having the same exact issue as shown in the console log above.

CERT: Error acquiring new certificate: Failed to upload CSR: 429, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Cleared. Please wait 10 minutes, then stop and restart Plex server.

Thank you for the quick response! Solved my cert issue. I truly appreciate your help. Especially on a weekend! Thanks again and have a great day.
