Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.15.0.659-9311f93fd-x86
Player Version#:
I have installed the latest version of PMS and have spent a very frustrating 3 hours trying to get the server to work …… endless searching for a server that is not to be found …… I love Plex but this is a real problem for me every time the server disappears. I run the repair app, restart my PC, run as administrator, and anything else I can think of. Most annoying. Anyone got any suggestions? Sorry no crash logs as they disappear after a restart ……and then suddenly it appears again after a very lengthy wait!
I’m in the same boat so I guess we can commiserate. Saturday night I installed the latest update PMS was telling me was available… it was the first time in a long time that an update installed through the web interface without throwing an error and me having to manually download and install the new version. But now Plex keeps crashing. I woke Sunday to find it had crashed, restarted it several times and it mostly crashed right away but finally it seemed to stay and things worked again–for most of the day. Then Sun. night it crashed again a couple more times before seeming to stay on in the hour before I went to bed. This morning I woke up and it had crashed again!
Everything was working fine before the update to PlexMediaServer-1.15.0.659-9311f93fd-x86 so I looked to download the last version and go back, but couldn’t find it. I d/l’ed the latest version and tried the Repair option and restarting twice and now things are maybe worse… I can’t get the server to stay on for more than a few seconds every time I start it. I found an old installer in my downloads folder: Plex-Media-Server-1.13.7.5369-93c9f1259 but it wouldn’t install over the newer version.
Now I find jbail31’s post here so I know I’m not alone… so there must be more affected users. I hope someone at Plex is working on a fix. I really don’t want to have to start from scratch rebuilding my whole Plex database (again) and losing everyone’s On Deck and play statuses. I’m really frustrated here because I just recovered from a massive problem on my main PC that was actually caused by Windows Updates! Maybe I should learn the lesson to not install updates quickly–especially if there’s nothing obviously wrong with your machine. I guess if it 'aint broke…
