Media Server Won't Stay Open

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3795
Player Version#:

I will admit to not being very well versed on the ins and outs of this service, but I have been using it for many years. I open the server on my PC, then access the server through the Plex app on a variety of different machines. It seems like after the last update, I can’t access my server. I am consistently getting the message that the server is unavailable. I have zipped what I believe are the crash logs, please let me know what else you may need to know to diagnose the issue. Running Windows 10 by the way.(File removed)

Following this topic, as I’ve been having the same issue with this specific recent update. I’ve been running PMS for years without issue, but it refuses following the update to this version.

Exactly the same issue.

Same here. Using the Plex web interface on the server itself then all of a sudden says server is not available. Go to systen tray and find it has shut itself off and disappeared.

Same problem. I can’t seem to figure out root cause. Sometimes PMS will stay running for 24 hours, sometimes only 5 min. Just applied 1.21.1.3830 but problem is still happening.

Rolled back 2 versions to 1.21.0.3711 and all is well. Looks like I’m staying here a while.

Ok. Same here.

Is there a solution? Or acknowledgement from Plex that there is an issue?

Continually being told the server cannot be found and then finding it has gone from the system tray.

Same here. Since the last update PMS has crashed on my desktop server daily as well. No stability problems at all prior to the update.

Can I ask a dumb question, how do I roll back a few versions?

Same as @Adam712, been running non stop for a couple years. Now crashing once a day.

New version released today but not trying as yet in case it breaks it again.

Plex has been completely unstable as of late. As a user previously suggested, I rolled back to 1.21.0.3711 and it seemed to help for a little while. Now it is back to crashing several times a day with no apparent reason. There are crash reports being generated and uploaded. The latest crash report had ID dcce75a1-612f-4d6a-9416-fe95c2e68ac2. I really am out-of-wits and have never seen this in Plex before after years of usage. The Windows host seems healthy and there is no errors in the event logs. Windows was updated recently and I don’t know if that has anything to do with it. I have tried reinstalling Plex twice (once to downgrade) and nothing seems to fix it…

This still has yet to be remedied, even with the new version rolled out 1/27/21. No one from Plex has responded. I’ve been using this service for years, I find it unacceptable that it’s still crashing.

Thank you for this update in the absence of Plex responsiveness. It’s updates like these on this thread that will help me know when to turn upgrades back on.

If this issue is still happening on the current version - 1.21.2.3943-a91458577 please provide zip of the server logs and will have a look

If there are crash reports within the Plex Media Server\Crash Reports folder, please zip and include with the zipped logs

@sa2000 Hopefully this is what you need.

Has this issue been solved? If so what is the solution?

No it hasn’t, i just posted the zipped logs. Hopefully that helps to figure this mess out.

Is Plex installed on C:, Z:, or both? Have you moved portions of it to another drive?
