Hmm, don’t think so.
As already mentioned, my server is a VPS hosted by Contabo, thus it sits in a Datacenter with its own public IP and I don’t have any connectivity issues with it. Other applications that require a stable connection, like Jitsi, run fine.
I do have the ufw firewall enabled, but that is only controlling incoming connections and should not affect anything outgoing.
Okay, stuff just got even more weird.
I tried to install PMS on my local computer, thus a completely unrelated system to my VPS. I ran the initial setup and it crashed as well.
Thus I feel like it has something to do with my Plex Account or the other servers that are shared with me by friends.
Jep, my hunch was correct.
I set PMS up using a different Plex account and it worked. I could configure the server, successfully create a library and even share it with my own account and then access it.
No crashes, no nothing.
I am going to reach out to operations now and find out because the account is only an association for privileges. It has nothing to do with operational code on the OS.
Please open https://app.plex.tv
Go to Settings - Authorized Devices (Upper Left).
Look through that for duplicate servers
If it contains duplicates / unused items, please start deleting (you can tell based on the age in most cases)
