PMS crashing immediately in macOS Mojave

unfortunately this is a recurring issue for some users. Always these two directories show with errors as above and need to have ownership / permissions changed

 ~/Library/Caches
 ~/Library/Logs

When running PMS from terminal:

Error: Unable to set up server: sqlite3_statement_backend::loadOne: database disk image is malformed (N4soci10soci_errorE)

That looks like a corrupted library file. Is this a new library or an old one?

This is a brand new library.

Seems odd that the db is in a disk image, rather than just a file. Sounds like a matter for a dev.

See what log files exist and may indicate when corruption first reported

To repair/restore db

https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/

I tried 4 different backup files, and they all resulted in:

Error: Unable to set up server: sqlite3_statement_backend::prepare: database disk image is malformed for SQL: PRAGMA cache_size=2000 (N4soci10soci_errorE)

Who’s talking about Preview? And who’s talking about a new system?

My frustration with this product has come to the point where I must declare that I would never have purchased a Plex pass had I known how consistently buggy this application is.

Since first installing Plex a couple of months ago, I’ve had to essentially wipe my library at least five times, approximately every two weeks.

Perhaps this is a little off-topic for this particular thread, but I’ve been plagued with:

  • my entire computer crashing within minutes of initiating audio transcoding in PMS while attempting syncing albums with the android app
  • PMS crashing immediately on start in High Sierra and Mojave
  • Getting a stuck sync with the status “Waiting for download” in the Android app

I happen to be a web developer, so I have a bit more patience for debugging than the average user. I can’t imagine how an average user would react to all of this (probably not well). Honestly, I’m nearing the end of my rope. When I pay for a product, I expect to spend my time using it, not debugging it. That’s what Plex developers get paid for, right?

I’m going to try one last-ditch effort - install PMS on Ubuntu to see if it yields any better results. If not, it’s probably goodbye.

Logs may have had clues - it is always the best way to investigate issues when they arise

I’ve uploaded logs to this thread: Mojave freezes with Plex server

I am having a similar issue. Plex 1.14.0.5470 crashes upon launch with Mojave. But when I downgrade to PMS 1.13.9.5456 it works okay, No logs in the Crash Logs folder. Plenty f folders for each version, but no files within. I turned off auto-updates for now.

What has happened to Plex?

We’re seriously pushing server breaking bugs to the production version when it’s been reported here by numerous people?

Where can we download 1.13.9.5456 now that the both the PP version matches the non-beta?

EDIT: I answered my own question by digging into the links Plex posts. Thankfully they still have the old non-■■■■ build posted on their servers:

There is a crash that is arising when network interfaces are multi-homed (more than 1 IP address) - ifconfig -a would identify this. Also with crash reporting enabled, the Plex Media Server logs would help identify the crash and confirm if it is this

https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

Checked ifconfig and no Multihoming on either en0 nor en1. Which logs would you like? I can upload them.

Assuming you have not disabled crash reporting and not disabled debug logging in server settings general with show advanced, the logs would be zip of all the log files in the Logs directory

If you have access to the server through Plex Web then it would be settings / server / troubleshooting / download logs
otherwise copying out the Logs directory and zipping it

Thanks, just sent you the log files.

please can i have the output from ifconfig -a copied into a text file

thanks

It is probably loopback
