PMS Custom Config in Debian

@ChuckPa, I was reading your guide here Customizing your Plex configuration and I just have one question. How do I know if the Umask/UMask of 002 is working on my Linux installation? Which new files/directories does Plex use the umask for?

I tried setting Preferences.xml to 664 but as soon as I start PMS (after reloading systemd to recognize the umask changes in the override.conf), the file immediately reverts to 644 permissions. So I’m not sure if that’s a good way to test this.

Preferences.xml doesn’t count.

The primary, and intended, use of UMask is for DVR recording.

Did you use 002 or 0002 as the value? 4 digits are required.

I see. I used 002 as I thought its the standard and that it was just a bug to use 4 digits as you mentioned in some thread. Do I need to use 4 digits instead? And how do I test?

I just realized that I gave the wrong link in my OP (edited now). The link you just posted is the same link that I’ve been referring to in my OP. The guide doesn’t tell me how to test though. I can try the different combinations of UMask/Umask/002/0002 but how do I test if it’s working? How can I have Plex force to create a file that will respect the UMask setting?
