PMS is not transcoding/serving FLAC 5.1 or DSF files

Hello,

it seems that everything with high bit rate is not served/transcoded on my QNAP. Is there no support for these kind of files?

Thank you

Checking the logs I found this:

Mar 23, 2016 20:51:53 [0xf0f35b90] ERROR - [Transcoder] [libmp3lame @ 0x9933440] Specified sample rate 96000 is not supported

If the FLAC is 44.1kHz no problem, but if it is 96kHz than I get this error. Of course DSD the same thing since the kHz is even higher…

LOL

First of all yes it was a FLAC, I have tested also on other files FLAC 5.1 not from DTS, bla bla bla…

I have Qnap 871 i7 16GB ram… I think that is more than enough, CPU is basically idle…

As said the error is :

Mar 23, 2016 20:51:53 [0xf0f35b90] ERROR - [Transcoder] [libmp3lame @ 0x9933440] Specified sample rate 96000 is not supported

Even a stereo FLAC with more than 44.1kHz generates the same error

Issue confirmed for the higher than 44.1kHz FLAC files.
I have reported this to the developers.

But aside from that: the filename you have there suggests that these are no real multichannel Flacs but DTS-WAV-FLACs instead. Those are not supported at all.
I may be wrong though.

That was just an example, I have tested it with many other files FLAC 5.1 if higher than 44.1kHz they won’t play. Also DSF files behave the same way for the same reason because libmp3lame cannot handle higher sample rates, if someone could fix that would be wonderful. We are in 2016 and we love to have hi res files to be played. Thanks

The sad thing is, this used to work previously. But anyway - it’s been reported.

Issue appears to affect other clients too. It has been acknowledged by the devs.

great! I hope they will fix it soon! Thanks

Hope that a quick fix will be able too. I almost only use hi-res so nothing on my iPhone only at home on my server.

Still no fix, this is getting anoying.

Yes, indeed…

I did use the 24/96 every day straight from the server and iOS. Straight from the server still works.

Still waiting as well…

Is there a dev who can shed a light on when this is getting fixed? Haven’t played a lot of music since this problem started to appear. I refuse to use another app so I can still listen to my music.

me too! I am not listening to my music!

This is taking much to long. Looking for an alternative for my hi res music such as Roon. Will wait a bit but there’s nowhere any info from Plex on this issue. Not that I can find anyway.

check out the just-released PMS 0.9.16.4

Think you’ve jumped the gun on that one, no release at the moment.

Regards

The release notes aren’t posted but I was just able to download and install it from my updates page.

I can confirm the FLAC issue has been fixed.

I can only get PMS 0.9.16.3… which still has the issue. How did you get PMS 0.9.16.4?
