PMS keeps randomly closing without explanation

Plex Media Server.log (3.5 MB)
Server Version#: 1.15.0.659

I cannot figure out what is going on here. It’s been happening for about two weeks, and I’m stumped. I’m a rookie at looking through the log, but I tried Ctrl-F to search for “error” and got nothing. There is nothing I can find that tells me why PMS keeps closing. but about once every day, I’ll try to load up Plex on a device, find the server unavailable, and check the server to find that PMS isn’t running. It’s just not running anymore. So I have to restart it manually, and then it’s good for about another day. It seems to happen when no content is being played; I haven’t had the server go offline in the middle of playback at any point.

Possibly related, Plex has, for some time now, not been starting correctly with Windows. Similar to the issue above, it just doesn’t run on boot, despite having a shortcut to PMS in the Windows Startup folder. I recently “fixed” this by way of a workaround. I made a batch file to start PMS, and put that in the Startup folder instead. It works, but maybe I created the new issue by doing this? I can’t see how, but maybe someone smarter than me can illuminate. Here’s the very simple batch script I’m using to launch PMS:

cd “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server”
start “” “Plex Media Server.exe”
exit

I’ve attached the log as well. Debug on, verbosity off. I really hope someone can help. I’ve considered trying a new workaround of creating a script in EventGhost to re-launch PMS if it doesn’t find it running on some interval, but I’d really rather not do that as my server is already feeling like it’s held together with digital ducktape.

I’m about ready to nuke this Windows install and switch to a Linux server, but I really don’t want to as I use EventGhost to translate IR remote inputs and to eject my slot loading BDRW drive which has its eject button blocked by the Silverstone case I’m using. Plus I’ve got a massive library that I’ve been using for many years and am nervous about trying to carry over the correct files to maintain metadata and watched history, let alone setting up Sonarr, SABnzbd, and qB on a new OS.

A lot of discussion of this here. PMS 1.14.1.5488 Crashing frequently on Windows

The upshot for me is that I’ve rolled one of my servers back to the last non-Plex Pass version.
