Plex Media Server.log (3.2 MB)
Hello all,
I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this before, but if there is a similar case and it’s resolved, please do point me in that direction. I’m running into this constantly weird and honestly really annoying issue with PMS. I run PMS on Windows 10 Pro, and while I’m aware it’s not the best or ideal platform for PMS, it is what I am most comfortable with.
Every so often, PMS will just completely stop working and won’t show any of my contents in plex. PMS is technically still running in Windows, but nothing works. The only way I know how to temporarily fix this is by right clicking PMS in the system tray, choose Exit to completely shut it down, and re-running PMS by right clicking its desktop icon and choosing “run as administrator”. This starts PMS again and everything works fine until it fails by itself again. It can occur again in a few days, or a few weeks, in the middle of the night or the middle of day time. PMS can be idle with nobody using it, or I can be in the middle of using it, and it will just cut out. There’s really no way to pinpoint when it will occur.
I really don’t know what is causing this since it will just occur out of the blue. I’ll usually realize that its down a few hours or so after it happens because my library won’t show up in one of my devices.
Please let me know what info you need to help isolate this issue.
To breakdown the issue, PMS is still running in system tray on my server, but it is unavailable/inaccessible either through any players or on the server itself.
Double clicking on the Plex Tray icon will show this
I’ve provide the Plex Media Server log here, hopefully there is some info there that can help figure out what is causing this. The log was extracted immediately after the crash occured (extremely rare that it crashed while I’m active on Plex) so I’m hoping it can help narrow down the cause.
Thank you!
Sean
