PMS no longer honoring "Prefer Local Metadata" option?

Server Version#: 1.43.0.10346
Player Version#: 4.12.4 (Plexamp)

For years, my audio file workflow has remained unchanged:

My music library on Plex uses Plex Music agent, but with “Prefer Local Metadata” option enabled so that service-enabled organization is only used as a fallback (rarely necessary).

I tidy up my content using MP3Tag (tags, embedded album artwork, sort tags, etc.). Then move to NAS, PMS scan picks up new media. Good to go.

Lately, it seems like the Prefer Local Metadata option is being ignored. Numerous additions in the last couple of months have correct local metadata, but Plex won’t read any of it, assigning either a generic artist picture for the album, or borking it in some other way.

I have a second NAS with a clone of my music library that a Navidrome server is pointed to, just to ensure that the tagging is correct (it is). So this is definitely something weird in Plex.

Anyone else noticing this, and what can I do to keep the old behavior of local-metadata-first Plex Music-as-fallback?

The previous beta had a known issue with this, the latest build (10346 which you’re on now) fixes this but you would need to refresh metadata on the items that were added when on the bad beta.

It should also update automatically and fix itself over time during the maintenance tasks.

Hey, thanks for the super fast reply! Sure enough forcing a refresh of metadata worked and everything looks good again!
