I have 2300 movies in a folder and I would say about 10% are not being identified by Plex and I was wondering what I could provide to allow someone to help me trouble shoot this? I am fairly new to Plex so if you need screenshots or logs please let me know what I need to do to get to them thanks!

Yes I have tried renaming files and then moving them out of the folder and back in after a scan and cache clear. I have also checked the file names for correct formatting but that doesn’t seem to make a difference either. With 90+% of 2300 files all working I would think I have a handle on the basics of the troubleshooting steps and I have searched these forums so all the ideas posted here that I have found haven’t helped either.
Here is an example file that wont identify even after moving it out, clearing cache, ensuring its named properly, moving it back into the folder, and scanning again. I also manually matched it to the correct entry and did a metadata refresh. Nothing has worked.
This is one of about 200 files that are acting like this.
File naming is perfect. Now to determine why there are no meta data.

Interesting development I renamed it to …/media/movies/test/test.mkv then moved it out of the folder then back into the folder and then renamed it back to …/media/movies/Hitch (2005)/Hitch (2005).mkv and then manually re-matched it and now it is working. I was just trying things out of frustration and something clicked. Is there a mass media file rename piece of software that Plex recommends so I can try to rename them all at once and then move them out and then back in and rename back to correct names?
There is a procedure which you need to perform if Plex has previously “mismatched” your files (due to wrong file names etc.)
