I inadvertently set my PMS to follow the beta server update channel, and installed v. 1.27.0.5849. This caused a big problem with my music library that has been identified and reportedly will be fixed before the next public release.
My question is this: Is there a way to tell Public v. Beta release by the version number? The release notes don’t identify if a release if beta or public; is there some other way? If not, then may I suggest to the developers that they change the numbering to do so? Something like “the last four numbers (1.27.0.XXXX) for beta releases will be odd, and for public releases they will be even.”
Beta versions eventually become the public versions (unless they superseded by another beta version first). With rare exception, all public versions were previously beta versions.
I don’t recall seeing that when I click on the release notes directly from the notification of a new version on the Settings->General page. It just listed what’s new and what was fixed.
There is not. Often a beta version will just become a public version. Like 1.26.2.5797 was beta and then that same version was open to public a week later. So someone who was on that beta already would not have gotten a “public” update.
It is also not listed in the in app “what’s new”.
But i get what you are saying and I will pass it along, but I make no promises.
I know that @BigWheel confirmed that this doesn’t show in the “what’s new”. I just want to share that this is what I see if I click on “Show release notes” when my server tells me there’s an update available. No indication that this is a beta or public release. If you don’t change numbering, then put that information here. Anything to specify the release channel (yes, it was my fault for accidently subscribing to the beta channel originally).
