PMS on Raspberry Pi 2

Well, it seems someone has managed to squeeze PMS onto a Raspberry Pi 2, https://forums.plex.tv/topic/145717-i-have-pms-running-on-raspberry-pi-2/?p=846534

Might try this, 1 Pi for PMS with a USB SSD for content, 1 Pi for Rasplex client, ideal for taking on holiday or in the car.

Regards

Is there any way we could get a version of Rasplex that would include the server and client so that we only need one Pi?  That would be ideal for a car - you might need to add something like a MoPi and batteries to handle power management.

Not possible due to the requirements for each component of the solution.

Best solution is one Pi for PMS and one for Rasplex, on the PMS Pi, set it up as a wireless router in addition to PMS, either wireless or wired (search the Internet) and there you go. You'll also need an SSD to hold your media for Libraries. This approach works OK, either for in car use or taking on vacation where you have no internet access and therefore can't use your main PMS on mobile clients. Bear in mind that the PMS Pi can't transcode so make sure your content can be direct played (although it seems to remux audio OK).

For an in-the-car solution, I'd personally just run Kodi with an attached SSD. I admire your Plex dedication, however.

Don't like Kodi, never have liked XBMC, too much confuration to do, but each to their own.

Thanks for sharing Ned. Do you know if PMS would work on a Raspberry Pi 1 (b revision)? It would be sweet in order to repurpose my RPi1 as I am surely gonna buy a RPi2 to enjoy a full speed rasplex  :D

Haven't tried it but doubt it. A number of people have tried in the past without success.

Damn it. As the PMS drobo released used in this topic is developed for arm5 devices, what exactly would prevent it from working? Thanks

Not enough horsepower, only two cores and 512Mb memory, even if you overclocked this I doubt it would make any difference.

I think what you're looking for is the mobile app and plex sync.
