PMS on RPi 4b buffering like crazy

Hi all,

I’m having some real trouble with my Plex Media Server on my RPi4b (running DietPi), and was hoping someone could offer some insight into why this is happening. Although I have tested this on a non-optimised file in the logs, I have had terrible results so far with .mp4 files, and cannot determine why this is so slow.

I don’t suspect my CPU, as I’m confident the Raspberry Pi 4b can provide enough juice to handle the task, but I could be wrong. Can anyone make heads and tails of the attached and let me know if I am doing something wrong?

  1. The Pi doesn’t have hardware transcoding which is supported by Plex.
  2. You’re trying to transcode HEVC source (the most difficult codec to decode)
  3. It’s grossly out of power.
  4. Additionally, Please keep VERBOSE - OFF until requested. It wastes valuable log space (only 26 MB deep)
