PMS on Synology not detecting Nvidia GPU

Server Version#: 1.41.8.9834

@chris_decker08 The most recent PMS for Synology no longer detects Nvidia GPUs, and in turn doesn’t allow for HEVC encoding to be enabeled. Im not quite sure at what version number this stopped working as I don’t upgrade all that frequently.

Could you guys fix it please?

Kind regards!

What version were you running before your last update?

Did Plex recognize the GPU in that version?

I have to admit, I don’t quite remember. And the GPU detection might have been broken on the previous version I had running as well. I don’t really transcode a whole lot

Reference, Discussion from May 2024

Chris did a lot of work to try and make PMS work with these type of configurations.

In fact, he made it work great

Now it doesn’t ?

Are you using the Forum Preview or normal Public PMS ?

Public. Apart from the first test releases I got from @chris_decker08 , Ive always used public. Now it has stopped detecting the card, which in turn prevents me from enabeling HEVC

Can you pleaee restart pms and then attach logs? That way the logs will capture the gpu detection that happens on startup.

Here you go @chris_decker08
Are these the correct ones?
Plex Media Server.log (920.0 KB)

@RockStar according to your logs we do indeed detect your card

Jul 01, 2025 13:09:16.679 [140094336486200] DEBUG - [GPU] Got device: NVIDIA T1000 8GB, nvidia@unknown, default true, best true, ID 10de:1ff0:10de:1612@0000:08:00.0, DevID [10de:1ff0:10de:1612], flags 0xe8

can you double check the restart did not fix it?

Restart did indeed fix it. Truly sorry for being an idiot
