PMS Pagefaults - UNRAID - Docker

I either use a $2 ENFAIN or Sandisk.

i have a few older ones to try.

My NUC8 ESXI boxes use Sandisk without issue for the past 2 years (thumbs are always used), I wonder where the root cause is.

Rebooted it. Got lucky.

Can I transfer anything from existing to new USB or must it start fresh?

That would hopefully work out! I have 2 SanDisk USB keys I bought for unraid a couple years before I built my system (an eternity ago.) One is in use with unRAID right now and never gave any fuss.

I would suggest starting fresh, especially if you haven’t bought a license yet.

Will the Plex install be lost?

I won’t be buying a license. I’m doing this to help you guys

It may become lost.

Did a deep dive.

  1. WD bought SanDisk (2016) – There was a change in MFG facilities

  2. I cut open the other thumb drive which gave issues.
    – It’s eMMC flash (which is fine here for READ-ONLY with a little writing
    – The storage module is Samsung.

I’ll get some PNY tomorrow

If splitting my part of this topic is deemed to be necessary, so be it.

If this issue ( Plex Transcoder segfault in ld-musl ) is not confined to UNRAID then i’ll purge the UNRAID portion to keep generic

I was thinking of having my portion of this thread taken out and put in a new separate thread just for my problem.

Is that possible?

@urbanracer34

Over here now but still linked

Looks good!

@urbanracer34

I bought 5 PNY USBs (64 GB) USB 3.0 for personal use.

I dedicated one for this effort.

I then, using my Mac Mini , created the drive.
I had to put the drive back into my workstation to make it BOOTABLE before I could actually use it. ( I think that can/should be improved and part of the USB creation )

I did learn – unraid USB creator on Win 10 Pro in VMWare workstation with USB passthrough == NO GO.

This has been a VERY frustrating task just to get to the point where I can properly support you all and find out what’s happening with Plex!!!

Fingers are now crossed that:

  1. HDD in USB slot (yes I know but that’s all I have)
  2. UNRAID thumb drive in “always on” USB slot.

I’ve loaded up my media library into PMS so we wait.
(NFS mounted via CA Scripts)

@ChuckPa

I appreciate all the effort you have put into this.

I have experienced an anomaly. I am not sure how it will impact our testing.

I did a parity sync on my array and I haven’t had a segfault from Plex in 2 days.

I am not sure if this is a once-off event or if our problem has miraculously solved itself.

I will continue to monitor and report back.

Did the parity check report that it fixed anything ?

The only thing that miraculously resolves itself is :speak_no_evil: lol

The parity check report said everything was OK and there were 0 errors.

Is there any way to have it report when it does fix anything?

Knowing it’s fixed is one thing.

Knowing it found something to fix would be what’s important to me.

If there was an error found during the check, it would correct it. I looked at the main unRAID screen and it is set to correct parity if an error was found, and I am sure that it would be in the log if there was an error. No errors were found at all.

I would suspect the most likely – You’ve no more media to analyze.

Check your PMS logs to be certain?

I can try… What should I be looking for specifically?

You’re looking for the word “Analyze” or “Analysis”

A ‘grep -i’ of all the logs will tell you.

Given we’re trying to cast a wide net, I would also increase Preferences to LogNumFiles="10" or even 15/20 (depending on how much you care to hold.

5 rollovers (default) is about 75 MB of total logs which compresses to about 4 MB when posted in the forums as the ZIP file. Growth is linear.
