PMS media mounted at boot across network (via CIFS), but after initial upgrade, process restart & full system reboot I continue to be presented with the following error: Plex Tuner Serv[4139]: Plex Tuner Service: Critical: libusb_init failed
Despite the nature of the message, doesn’t appear to be super critical – i poked through the logs, but nothing is really jumping out at me. Happy to provide further information in the form of logs or whatever is necessary. My apologies in advance that this bug report is a little light on the details. I saw this same error reported numerous times regarding FreeNAS jails/Docker container, but i’m running a full/fat VM so do not believe that is applicable. Thanks for all the great PlexPass features. After multiple years of constant beta tests, this is the first error I’ve encountered (that wasn’t self-induced).
Every restart of the plexmediaserver service on the Ubuntu Server 18.04.5 VM throws the following error: Plex Tuner Serv[11597]: Plex Tuner Service: Critical: libusb_init failed
I don’t have any need for USB devices to this virtual machine (a type 2 Hyper-V under Win10 Pro), but figure we’re testing this software for a reason. Hope this is helpful in some way, sir – if not, please let me know what further information, logs, etc I may be able to provide. Appreciate the prompt response, sir.
Thanks again for your time and attention to my little matter. Appreciate this great community and the hard work you devs put in dealing with our various issues. Stay safe, sir.
Updated to latest PMS via dpkg -i plexmediaserver_1.22.0.4145-0af3a4016_amd64.deb command, on same Ubuntu Server 18.04.5 virtual machine. Still notice the error, however it does not appear to affect performance, as I’m not utilizing any attached USB devices. Please advise if there’s anything further I can provide to assist with this.
