PMS Version 1.40.0.7775 using a lot of memory and still rising

Server Version#: Version 1.40.0.7775

Hi
Today I updated to v. 1.40.0.7775 and the PMS starts using a lots of ram.
I’m running PMS on an MacMini with M2 and 8GB Ram. Runs perfect for months.
After the update, the Mac starts getting slower and slower and I wondering why.
So I recognized, the PMS is using 5 GB Memory of my little 8GBs and the system starts swapping like hell.
Normally the PMS Process is using less then 100mb of RAM.
I downgrade to 1.32. and everything is normal again.

Sorry no logs.

Maybe some have similar issues.

This version contains a database migration which is mentioned in the release notes. This is a very intensive operation and depending on hardware could take a while to complete.

Continuing the discussion from Plex Media Server:

Hi, thanks for reply.

I also read this.
But CPU and Harddrive for the PMS
process nearly do nothing for hours.
I dont think, the migration only happened in the memory.:grimacing:

We have identified an issue leading to massive memory use and a fix will be coming out for the beta.

Debug server logs would indicate if it is the same issue - there is also a server setting for logging memory usage - see LogMemoryUse mentioned on this article Advanced, Hidden Server Settings | Plex Support

Do you expect the memory fix to be in the initial GA version?

The problem came in the 1.40.0.7775 beta. The fix will initially be released as a hotfix release for the beta and after that, the beta will be released as public release

I don’t see the memory leak mentioned in the release notes for 1.40.0.7996. Has the memory leak been resolved in the latest beta version?

It is mentioned

(Scanner) Some id3v2 tags found in music caused a memory leak (PM-916)
