Hi, is it possible to zip/rar the plex media server folder content(excluding cache) while PMS is currently running? i think yes because i won’t write anything on PMS folder… but to be sure i’m asking here…is it possible?
I have more than 500.000 small file… the better archiver solution?

thanks. i tried it. i didn’t like. i want control on every process. don’t like script on this.

That script just does zip or 7zip (7zip is faster/smaller) of each directory like you’d do it manually… you can just do it that way yourself.
If you wanted to do everything which the script does by hand, you’d have to do a bit more than just firing up the compression app.
And particularly, you will have to get up in the night to do it. A script on the other hand can be scheduled to automatically run at a time, when it is least impactful if the server goes down for a while.
