Before I leave for work I download my podcast in Plex, then set Plex to “Offline Browsing” go about my day listening to podcast and watch tv shows. Recently I been getting “Podcast is Unavailable” and when checking if the podcast is downloaded under “Downloads & Sync” they’re not listed. But if I turn off “Offline Browsing” and on WiFi each podcast says its downloaded. I tried deleting them and redownloading them, which didn’t work. the weird thing is when I go to the podcast and choose"…" and pick “Delete Download” it says “This action will remove downloaded files from your device.” but from whats listed under “Downloads & Sync” the podcast was never download. Very Confusing and frustrating. If anyone can happy I would be really appreciative!
I have same issue. If I leave mobile data on i can access the podcasts but then I am not whether it is playing the downloaded version or streaming using mobile data.
There does not appear to be any way of setting the app to only use the downloaded podcast.
Having the same issue — I found out on a long flight. I set up all the sync settings… I see the little down arrow… but alas, nothing was there. In the sync settings there are no podcasts listed. My tv shows and movies are there… but no podcasts.

I am having this issue too. When I switch to offline browsing the podcasts view switches to podcasts on this device but it says that podcasts is unavailable and doesn’t show the downloaded ones.
Same for me on iOS 12.1, iPhone 6s. I gave up a while back due to other issues but I distinctly remember that I could listen to podcasts offline. Now regardless of what I’ve downloaded (ostensibly indicated by the white arrow next to the episode), once I go offline and switch to the podcasts tab, the app just shows “Podcasts is Unavailable”. Synced photos show up as expected.
I too discovered this on a flight.
- Download some podcasts
- Turn offline mode on or lose internet connection
- Plex podcasts says nothing is available.
So, this feature doesn’t seem to work at all.
I’m having the exact same issue.
Ran into this too when I took a recent flight. Fortunately I noticed before we took off, so I turned my data back on, quickly downloaded the native iOS podcast app, downloaded a bunch of my favorite podcast episodes, then turned airplane mode back on. Was able to listen to the podcasts offline that way.
But yeah, would love to use the Plex app when offline for this purpose instead of switching apps. After losing Plex Cloud this is another fail by Plex. Hopefully they will fix this soon.
Same issue. Syncing/downloading podcasts does not work. After going offline I see nothing. Even when online, and I go to my Downloaded/synced section, it says “No Synced Items”.
