Most of mine where non-english podcasts.
BTW: one cannot see the address of the podcast. Another feature you should implement, i think.
Several are missing for me. Among the missing are those I added via URL and also added by searching and adding using PLEX functionality. It’s hard to say which podcasts, specifically, were removed because they are gone.
Rebuilding this sort of library (do you remember every podcast that was released quarterly, or do you rely on the podcast popping to the front of the list when it’s updated?) is an exercise in futility, especially with a large podcast collection.
All of my podcasts are missing and they are all german ones. I added all of them with the URL.
All of my podcasts are missing as well. All of the podcasts that I want to add by url are not working but I tried some others just for kicks and got some to work. So the add by url is not completely broken but it might as well be.
Same issue here. Podcasts affected include the following (and I believe they were all added manually by URL):
Jordan, Jesse, Go: https://feeds.simplecast.com/NDAi3mtz
Stop Podcasting Yourself: http://feeds.feedburner.com/stoppodcastingyourself
Hollywood Babble-On: http://feeds.feedburner.com/HollywoodBabbleOnPod
You Look Nice Today: https://feeds.fireside.fm/youlooknicetoday/rss
California King: https://feeds.fireside.fm/californiaking/rss
I should mention that all of the above podcasts were added back in successfully, some retained their old play status but others did not. I often get error messages when adding a podcast by URL but it does eventually work.
There are a number of other persistent podcast issues that cropped up in the past several weeks: “mark as played” doesn’t work, played episodes are not removed from On Deck, and the play queue tends to keep playing the next episode (or re-playing the curent episode) even when the play queue is cleared.
Just adding a “me too” to the discussion. About two thirds of my podcasts disappeared overnight. Not after a server update or something.
I did update the server this morning hoping a fixed bug would bring them back but unfortunately not.
The podcasts have disappeared everywhere: Plex web client, Plex for android, PlexAmp (android)
I’d appreciate it if this were fixed so that I would not have manually add them all again.
Piling on here with “yup, my podcasts all vanished and I can’t re-add them”, too.
Having same problem. Most of my podcasts have vanished, and I can’t add them back.
I haven’t updated my Plex server either!
Has anybody heard anything from Plex as yet about this issue or even if they have acknowledged that there is a problem?
One plex employee has responded in this thread, and another in this one: Is there a way to report when a something is not working in plex?
I have also lost all of the podcasts I had added by URL. The only one left is the one I found in the built in podcast categories. I have also tried adding them by URL again without any luck.
I am also very in interested in knowing, if we can expect all the missing podcasts (and played/unplayed etc.) to be lost for good, or you believe there is a way to restore them?
I was able to add some of the lost podcasts via the URL tool. However, it only adds the podcast episodes at the time of the add, it does not add new episodes going forward.
For example, I added this podcast yesterday morning, A new episode came out yesterday evening (can see it on iTunes podcasts), but the new episode does not show up on Plex.
EDIT: looks like Plex picked up the new episode just now (12 hours after on iTunes).
Update! I actually managed to get my podcasts back, and they even retain the status for e.g. played/unplayed, so that answered my question from earlier.
So, what I did, was to log in on my servers web interface, opened the “Podcasts” section under “Plex”, clicked the “Add Podcast by URL” (+microphone icon) and pasted in a podcast URL from podcasts.apple.com.
This resulted in the “Something went wrong” error, but for some reason I decided to try again with the exact same URL, and then it actually worked!
The subsequent attempts with other podcasts worked the first time, so it seems like I just had to be insistant once to make it listen to reason.
I hope this approach works for others, until the Plex developers hopefully find a way to restore our podcasts again. There is a hope at least, now that I can see that my played/unplayed status is actually still present after adding my podcasts again, so something must be left in the database.
Let’s hear if this works for you.
We have been investigating the reports of podcasts going missing and were able to track down the root cause. We are working on restoring the missing profile information at which point the shows will become accessible again, none of the show data or view history has been lost.
Thank you, Adriana. I cannot wait to get my podcasts back.
Thank you!
I just restarted my PMS, and all my podcasts have returned. All good!
Thanks for the (late) reply. Hoping to be able to use my podcast asap.
I restarted my PMS as well and got my podcasts back. Have another issue now, some of the Podcasts now have a minus count. Anybody got any ideas?
is anybody else having this issue as well?
Yes still waiting for a resolution, I used another Podcast manager since two months now!
