Polling command on Plex for Mac and Plex for Windows

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#: 1.2.0.875-b7362913

Seems like Plex-for-Windows and Plex-for-Mac don’t return any information in response to the GET /player/timeline/poll . Earlier versions did, but the newest updates don’t. Is this a feature remove or a bug?

That only applies to Plex Media Player.

Do you mean that Plex for Mac and for Windows don’t return polling information by design ?

Yes that’s the case.

What do I do if I have a home automation controller client that cannot keep persistence so it cannot use the subscribe feature.

In PMP according to this documentation https://github.com/plexinc/plex-media-player/wiki/Remote-control-API:

/player/timeline/poll?wait=0/1

  • Required Headers: X-Plex-Client-Identifier , X-Plex-Device-Name
  • This is an alternative to the subscribe command for controllers that cannot use persistent connections to receive updates from the player.
  • Player MUST reply to poll with the same response as is POSTed via timeline as defined below.

Is there any hope of getting this feature implemented or should I drop support for Plex for Mac/Windows?
