I'm sorry if this has been adressed before but the search function gave me nothing.
I get very greyish black levels with Rasplex, and I can't seem to find a solution. I've tried going through the HDMI output into my Denon reciever and from there up to the TV, and I've tried sending it straight into the TV's HDMI input and I still get the same result. I'm running direct play and switching to transcoding doesn't help. The problem doesn't seem to be the OS itself though, since the background turns gray right at the booting screen.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? I'm running a B+ with the latest Rasplex release (0.4.1) btw.
It seems that you have a hardware issue of some kind. I have both a B+ and an old B model of the RPi myself, and both of them give proper black levels on my TV set when running RasPlex.
Just to isolate the problem: Try connecting the RPi to some other TV set, and also try connecting it using another HDMI cable (known to give proper levels with other signal sources). You could also try it with an unrelated RPi OS (like Raspbian, or the bootloader BerryBoot). If the grey-level problem persists for all those cases you probably have a faulty RPi unit, and should have it replaced. (Since it’s a B+ model it should still be under warranty.)
If the problem does NOT persist for all those changes, then report here which cases it disappeared for, so we can proceed from that info.
My Panasonic plasma (TC-P60-ST60) is calibrated I’m using my Denon for all my sources. I’m really confused. I have the same calibration on all the inputs and when I watch my oppo is looks perfect. When I got the rasplex the blacks are grey and noisy. If I go into my TV settings I can change the HDMI black levels from light to dark and it looks better. But I shouldn’t have to do that since that’s how the TV was calibrated. Any insight would be great!
