It would also be very useful to add to the API and MyPlex the option to filter movies based on the subtitle language
+100
Itās already a feature of the Plex/Web and would be really great to have it in the native Win/Mac and (Samsung) TV clients as well!
nobody interested in this?! hm...Ā
i like the idea. and the flags are free or cheap.. so wouldn't be a big deal.
A new filter based on the subtitle language

I'd say it should be a flag with your prefered language or the language it is in or, in case there is no mention of the language used a simple number to tell you how many audio channels and how many subs you have in the file. Most of my anime I try to get in dual audio but some do not have the proper name of language (just Track 1 and Track 2 for instance) and some files have like 4 different subs (3 of them being japanese and one only english for instance).
I would love this feature in web manager but I donāt see usefulness in having it on client side. Am I missing something?

I can only speak for myself, but for example if PHT has a preplay screen which shows flags for which subtitles the movie has it would speed up the situation as it takes unnecessary amount of time to open up the movie, go into the correct OSD choice, and go down to the subtitle "dropdown" and cycle through it.
I am a big fan of overviews :)
I am using a keyboard today so I can easily press L after I have started the movie, but even so, starting a movie means it ends up at the OnDeck part and creates a mess.

Sure. But don't we need rather better pre-play screen in that case (or video OSD)? I have suggested (one of older posts here) adding a button "tracks" which would open list of available audio and subtitle tracks (what you get with "i" button on iOS or similar to PlexConnect.
Adding flags could help in web manager as you can easily see what subs are missing and do something about it but IMHO it would look messy in a client when multiple subs and audio tracks are available.
Yes, that is exactly what I mean. Flags in /web and on a today non-existent preplay screen. At least that is one way to do this.Sure. This is the second time you say just that line. What are you trying to say? Are you a robot for real? :)
I have a large library and my native language is spanish. Not all my movies have subtitles in spanish then an option to filter by subtitle languageĀ would allow me to access only what is ready to be viewed.
Yeah, I agree that that would be sweet.I have a large library and my native language is spanish. Not all my movies have subtitles in spanish then an option to filter by subtitle language would allow me to access only what is ready to be viewed.

In fact, that would be way more effective than hunting flags in web manager :)

I should have read more this forum before opening a thread on this :)

Plex Media Server 0.9.9.1 is now available to Plex Pass holders.
Ā
NEW:
- (API) Add audio and sub stream language as possible filters.
"API add audio and sub stream language as possible filters"
Ā
It is already technically possible and filter by caption, but no app has implemented this filter, why?
Since 7 months (Plex Media Server 0.9.9.1)Ā it is technically possible:Ā
- (API) Add audio and sub stream language as possible filters.
I hope someday someone implements it.Ā
Five years ago I made this request. And 5 years later still pending.
