I have a firewall running on the box running Plex Media Server and port 32400 is open. I have a VPN setup and the firewall is configured to accept connections on any port as long as it is coming from the VPN network.
My plex android app is able to automatically discover the plex media server and load its contents if VPN is connected. It works well without VPN if I disable firewall and load Plex mobile app at least once. After that if I bring up firewall also it still works.
But every few months the app fails to connect and I have to disable firewall temporarily again.
Which other port should I open? Is this discovery of plex server on the network based on some other port (other than 32400) as well?
