I use Sonaar and have the season folders setup to be named “01”, “02”. etc. Leading zero and then the season folder. However it appears the DVR always uses “Season 01”, “Season 02”, etc. This is leading to some duplication. Is there anyway to change Plex DVR to drop the word season from the folders it creates?
PS - I know I can change Sonarr but I actually really don’t like including the word “Season” over and over for each season.
Plex names the file according to the guidelines in the Naming Series and Season Based TV Shows FAQ. There is no way to change the naming that Plex uses that I am aware of. You could setup a script on your system to rename the folders, or move the files from the Season folders. Another option would be a post processing script to move the recording to a folder naming convention you would prefer but you script would have to determine the folder structure to use for the recording because all the post processing script receives is the filename of the recording at the end of the folder the recording is made in which is generally a folder for your library with the grab folder so your script would get something like: “F:\Recorded TV.grab\SEAL Team (2017) - S01E13 - Getaway Day.ts”. Your best option in my opinion would be to change the Sonarr configuration to match the Plex naming convention. Once a file is recorded I personally don’t ever look at where it is stored I am just want to watch it in Plex.
Yeah I did update Sonarr. Thanks for the input, I totally missed that support article on the naming convention.
I usually wouldn’t care either but Sonarr wasn’t seeing the DVR version and was then kicking off to go get one for me. Sonarr would put the non-dvr copy in the “01” folder while my DVR copy was in “Season 01” . Kept causing duplicates because Plex knew both were the same show/episode.
Fixed now I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something to adjust how Plex names the season folders.
