When the DVR records a show it names the file and puts it into a folder. However, it doesn’t use my naming convention, such as using lowercase s00e00 instead of uppercase S00E00. And I don’t want it to add the year of the show when it’s not needed. I also don’t want it putting the file into a season subfolder.
Is there a way to customize these things?
Nobody? No confirmation that it’s impossible or not?
Is this a requested future feature?
The current directory and file names are incredibly annoying.
I doubt this will change as it seems to follow the Plex naming convention outlined in the FAQ & Support Articles:

Plex names it so it will grab the correct metadata from theTVDB.com which is where it gets all of its meta from as @ChrisAWallace stated in his link above .
Without this naming convention it may or may not get the correct data.
I doubt that this would change as they would be creating yet more issues with bad naming conventions.
The way it is now, they can control at least what their own DVR’s naming convention is and not have meta issues related to that.
One option is to setup a hot folder, and use something like MCE Buddy to remove commercials and rename the episode. I believe the naming convention is customizable.
As Rick said above MCEBuddy can let you fully manipulate the name as you see fit. If you really feel having the name setup to the standards is a problem fell free to change it.
There are reasons though for the naming being the way it is as sisco and Chris state above. I think allot more people would be upset if they didn’t follow their naming standards to work with theTVDB.com database and things stopped matching properly.
Something being annoying, which is a very subjective thing, doesn’t support changing functionality that could easily break something.
The file name I can live with no problem. It’s the sub-folder thing that really annoys me. I don’t use season sub-folders. I keep all shows in their own folder. I don’t use custom per-season media assets so there’s no need for a sub-folder.
Isn’t it a bad idea to create so many folders on a UNIX system due to the limitations of it updating the library when media is added?
I’d just like a checkbox somewhere for “Create season sub-folders?”.

Their example uses s00e00 instead of what the DVR records which is S00E00. They should follow their example. It’s so much easier to read.
