PPC support

XBMC now supports ppc
I am using xbmc on my iMac G5 and it runs quite well (well, minus some A/V out of sync). Is it so difficult to pull the updates? I can't believe the code is plagued with x86 specific code/libs. Not to mean that it's trivial, but it has been done.

From the wiki:

Basically, nobody on the core development team owns PPC hardware, or has any desire to spend time working on porting the code. The source code is freely available though, so if anybody else with the necessary knowhow wanted to take it on, they're more than welcome to :)

XBMC Media Center 9.04 (codename: Babylon) final is now released. Versions for Apple TV, Mac OS X (Tiger, Leopard. Intel-x86, PowerPC), Windows (XP, Vista), Linux (Ubuntu PPA), Xbox, and a bootable Live CD/USB distribution (XBMC Live) of this free cross-platform media center software are available and are ready for download, (as usual the full source code is also available in our SVN repository under the GPL open source license).

Among the many new features in XBMC 9.04 is PPC (PowerPC) support for Mac OS X, VDPAU (NVIDIA GPU Hardware Accelerated Video Decoding for Linux), updated Codecs, new Karaoke features, more Media Info Scrapers, improved FanArt support, and of course enhancements to the XBMC Skinning Framework making it even more flexible and powerful. For the full list of what is new in this version of XBMC please see the 9.04 milestone on trac.

We’re aware that XBMC now supports PowerPC hardware. It also runs on OS X Tiger, Apple TV, Windows, Linux, Xbox and BBC Micro, and we have no desire to support any of those either

Sounds neat. Might have to try ole XBMC once!

I understand that this is an older thread, but I noticed Jam stated that there is source code that can be found and if someone took the time they could port Plex to PPC! I have Quad Core 2.5ghz G5 computers and I would love to try to port it!
