Get access to your CPE (look for the pass on a sticker underneath it) and set it to bridge.
Set up your router as DHCP or PPoE (whatever technology they use) and connect the cable to the wan port of the router. This way Plex will be able to setup port forwarding through UPnP or you can do it manually.
Second option:
Connect your CPE to one of the LAN interfaces of your router (it will make the router work as a switch) and Plex will be able to setup the remote access also using UPnP.
On both cases youâll still have to show them that they aren translating your address when they shouldnât. If they donât fix it, the steps above are useless.
You should be able to set your router for Access Point mode, disabling NAT.
Iâve an ASUS RT-AC68U. In Administration â Operation Mode I can change it from router mode to AP Mode.
This restarts the device. I believe it will pull an IP address from the DHCP server in your router instead of using the IP from when it was in router mode (like if you reset it to factory defaults). If so, you can run ASUSâ router discovery tool to find it.
I forgot that. @johnriggs1959_gmail_com if you go for the second option, following FordGuy steps is important because you donât wanna have two DHCP servers in your LAN.
Ok, tried setting Asus Router to Access Point mode. Fail.
I tried two ways; automatic configuration and auto configuration. I could connect to the router via WiFi or Ethernet but zero internet access. Also could not get back into Router Setup to change back and had to hard reset each time. Now back to Router mode.
Update: Finally got my ISP to make recommended port forwarding update on the fiber router (among other network changes). Everything seems be be working perfectly now.
