Preview: Plex Media Server for Windows 64-bit version

Yeah, only this current scan is 32 bit. The one that took 24 hours and finished this morning was 64. All my other posts in this thread are regarding the 64 bit version. I think my messing up switching the folders over might have been the cause of the insanely long one, so once this one wraps up I plan on switching back to 64 and doing just a normal scan. At this point the 90 minute scans i was complaining about earlier would be a godsend lol.

Never mind

I’m also using StableBir DrivePool v 2.3.1.1448 on two separate Pools spanning 9 internal SATA 3 drives and I am having 0 issues with PMS x64 - each has an their own SSD cache.
Combined, they have nearly 85K videos across 3 Plex libraries.
So maybe check your DrivePool version or look at other apps installed on your PC.
I am not seeing a slowdown of Library scans.
PMS x64 hasn’t crashed during daily operations
PMS x64 hasn’t got stuck doing manual Optimization (which used to happen frequently on the beta x86 version)
Hauppague WinTV is working properly

Windows 10 Pro x64
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
64GB memory

I may need to upgrade my ram. I have half as much as you do. How long does it take you to scan 85k?

I’ll time how long it takes for my library scanss.
As for RAM, I use 26GB of it was a ramdisk for Plex’s Transcode folder.

*What I can say now is that PMS is scheduled to scan my library (~86K, (9,000+ are on a SAN)) every 2 hours - and it always completes within that time. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m running the 64 bit version and just got a server upgrade notification. Will this install the 64 bit version of the update?

Same question @anon18523487 is it safe to update when notified?

I downloaded the update in the Beta Update channel and the file it downloaded in the Updates folder is:

PlexMediaServer-1.28.1.6018-c1f308c6a-x86_64.exe

So it looks like it’s 64Bit, but I’ll wait for an official answer just to be sure.

I let the auto-updater install the new version. It’s the 64-bit

It updated perfectly fine for me and verified it’s the 64bit version that it installed.

I don’t know if this is directly related to the 64 bit version, but after I installed it I have wierd issue on my Android Pixel Phone. I have a situation when using my HD Homerun Prime cable TV tuner feeting the Plex server where :

  1. Remotely connected via WAN, everything works (Smart TV, PC, Android phone & tablet).
  2. Locally when connected via LAN / WiFi, My pixel 3 phone only displays broken pixelated green screen when tuning the local TV OTA channels. However, the cable channels appear OK. Away from home connected via WAN all channels are fine. The HD Homerun Prime has the latest software updates. What am I missing?

Can you let us know here when that slowness has had a fix applied, i went back to 32bit for now with a script running to restart on crash. Took hours to scan my shows on 64bit

The 64-bit version will now automatically update through the beta channel and be in line with the regular beta releases. You will still need to install it manually if you are not already using the 64-bit version. The OP has been updated with the newest version.

I was having so many crashes with the 32 bit version that I had to create a powershell script that would monitor and kill/restart plex if it locked up – Haven’t had a single crash in the last 7 days with the 64 bit builds. I haven’t seen any issues with slow scanning.

Will the 64-bit version create a new library are will it keep the one built by the 32-bit version?. I’m concerned that all my content will be rescanned and it takes a lot of time to make sure every one of them are correctly identified with 1700+ movies, and lots of tv shows, and albums

This field requires a Plex Pass

I updated from last week’s x64 app to today’s x64 app version 1.28.1.608 and I am encountering one issue that I have never seen before.

When I go to edit the details of videos in my collection I am not able to edit the ā€œEditionā€ Field – it states, ā€œEditing this field requires a Plex Pass. Learn more here.ā€

I have a lifetime Plex Pass which I verified by going to my account.

So is this an x64 issue or a general PMS/account issue?

Didn’t for me - just used my existing library and kept all my edits. Some people have issues with slow scanning after installing the 64 bit version. I haven’t had that issue.

Seamless update and fast install.

Thank you.

Edit - is there a version update summary ?

thanks for that. I didn’t think I saw it before - but since it was partially in ā€˜red’ it caught by attention.
