Where is the latest version, Version 1.28.2.6106? My updating button is greyed out.
Take the link for the normal version but simply add _64 before .exe and you get the latest x64 version
I do it that way
Do you have beta channel selected ?
Mine has updated without issue each time now.
I havenāt had to do anything special
OP has been updated with the newest link, but as others have mentioned, if you set auto update to the beta channel, you should automatically be receiving the newest versions.
Version 1.28.1.5985 has been working really good⦠I know itās outdated but Iām afraid to upgrade to Version 1.28.1.6104 since finally Iāve had long periods of not crashing, low CPU usage, and just overall stability. Any downside or big missing features if just keeping 5985 for awhile?
I had my first crash today. It was the typical āPlex icon is still showing in the taskbar, but when you hover the pointer over it, the icon disappearsā crash. AFAIK the server was idle at the time, but I havenāt had time to investigate.
I had recently upgraded to Version 1.28.2.6106 (when I learned I could switch update channel to Beta).
Devs, if you want me to DM logs, just ask. Otherwise Iāll carry on and see if it repeats.
@Cafe_Diem Sure, Iāll take your logs. If you happen to have the crash report, that would be great too.
I also had this happen for the first time 2 days ago. Windows error log didnāt show a crash. The icon was still in the taskbar. But some friends messaged saying they couldnāt stream, asking if it was done. I quick logged in and all directories did show as āUnavailable.ā
I have a program āSystem Schedulerā which auto-runs programs for you. I have mine set to run āPlexMediaServer.exeā every 1 minute. This way if it crashes, after 1 minute it loads up again. If itās already running, nothing happens. Used for years, works great. But even this didnāt see it as a crash. Just closed out the icon by the clock and rebooted and all was good and stable again. Still⦠using 5985 with only 1 crash in about a month.
You should probably update your server to the version which already has 2 crash-related fixes. Plex Media Server - #528 by drzoidberg33
Updated download link above.
Started seeing Server crashes last night. Started with 1.28.2.6106.

Had to revert all the way back to 1.28.1.6092 to get it to stop.
Would start server for about 5 seconds then pop up saying Plex has stopped working and closes out.
Windows Server 2022 latest windows updates. Reinstalled Latest C Runtime Library
I think I may be running into a few minor issues since the latest update.
None of my files were playing, but I had others watching. Then I refreshed and they started playing again, but one of my DVR recordings stated transcoder error. I havenāt had that issue maybe ever. However, not it looks like it went ahead and recorded as it should.
I changed my password last night and did a logout or all devices. When I logged back in I had to reclaim my server. Since I did that it sure seems like everything runs slower now. Maybe that is a coincidence. I am not sure.
I donāt know if anything can be seen from my logs only, but Iāll provide them just in case.

Still running without issue on Win 11 Pro. AMD Ryzen 2700X. RX580X (old gear).
Remote clients all happy. Appears that my CPU is working less with transcodes.
Iām using the latest build. Currently rebuilding my library as I move it to an encrypted storage. The server crashed or hung on scanning or analysing music tracks, if Iād seen it correctly. Playing and browsing is working fine as far as I noticed. Attaching the Logs from either Crash or Hung I noticed during the last few days.

Iāve been running this for about 2 weeks now, and everything is good, except that scanning is definitely slower. Plex is basically always scanning now. It gets through it, of course, but with 5 libraries, and a pretty large library, something is always doing its thing - that was not the case before the switch.
Same as @theEDIguy, running great except for the constant scanning of all libraries.
No excessive library scanning for ours.
Apart from scheduled scans and a brief scan when new items are added it actually seems much faster in that aspect.
@JasonsPlex Excessing scanning or slow scanning. I know about the slow scanning. I have 1 user that is experiencing repeated scanning. Still waiting for confirmation but that was due to them having old plugins still installed.
With mine when itās told to scan one thing it scans all the folders. So far from what I can tell is it only affects stable bit drive people. But I could be wrong it doesnāt happen on the 32 bit version. Example if I add a movie it scans every folder.
So itās the partial scan option? Do you have a PMS log when this happened?
