Not sure that’s kind of odd. I’m on Windows 11 using Ubiquiti equipment.
@JohnAlex being a preview build it’s to be expected to have a few issues but hopefully they’ll have an update for that soon. My settings are the same and it scans everything:)

If people who are having the issue provide logs or they are flying blind.
If requested I’ll send them but they have test builds as well and they’re probably well aware of it. Just not everything got crammed into this release, they’ve been testing this for quite a few months now, internally. I’m just happy it’s finally released:)
I did try the anti virus things mentioned earlier but they had no effect. Attach are debug logs. Thanks!
I’m not getting the issue, others are. Logs do help.
the exact same thing is happening to me. it takes me hours to scan my tv series library
@NattieBoompo Reviewing your logs I see that your movie library is pointing to G drive. It is not good idea to place your movies directly into the root of the drive. You should place everything into a “movie” or similar folder first.
I’m not sure why this would be slower with the 64-bit build, but even on the 32-bit build it is not a good idea to use the root.
^^^ This.
The server is looking at the “last changed” date of a folder, to decide whether it needs to be scanned or not.
The root of a drive doesn’t have that property, so it will be always scanned.
Also, it makes a big difference whether you have a subfolder for each movie or not.
With subfolders, the above mechanism can work for each movie individually, so only movies (and therefore folders) which have been changed need to be scanned.
The only thing I can think of with mine, is it’s just not liking stable bit Drive pool.
I’m also using drivepool, maybe that’s it.
Actually scratch that. i do use drivepool for my movie and tv libraries, but my music library is just one folder on my main c drive, and it is also taking forever to scan.
This is for a scan of the whole library, not recently changed
Having the same issue, i give up after 12 hours scan of my movie folder…
using clouddrive and drivepool.
I’m ok with the 32 bit version
I’m not seeing the extended scan times, but I do have the Plex program files folder in my Windows Defender exclude list. Out of curiosity I manually started a full scan the other day to see how long it takes. It seemed to crank through my video libraries pretty quickly, but it slowed down dramatically when it got to my music library. While it was still scanning the music, I added that library to my Defender exclude list and the scan immediately picked up speed quite substantially (note: the video libraries are not excluded from Defender).
For purposes of scale, I have about 9,000 movies, 20,000 TV episodes, and 21,000 songs in my libraries. All libraries use their respective modern Plex scanner agents. All are on 5400 rpm external USB drives, except the music which is on a 7200 rpm internal drive. The Plex server folder is on a NVMe SSD (which, BTW, has never provided any particular performance benefit that I can tell). The full scan took 7 minutes. Not sure what it was prior to upgrading to the 64-bit server.
The announcement says:
“This comes with a new installer so manually installing PMS will look a little different. Once installed the automatic update will work like usual for newer versions.”
What is the proper setting on the server General tab for the item: Server Update Channel (Public or Beta) since this release seems to be pre-Beta?
It doesn’t matter, since you’re installing this preview manually.
Might be because the first scan after adding a folder has to change all the paths or something, but this has made it a thousand times worse. My TV library has been scanning for over two hours now and judging by the little status circle it’s about 15-20 percent done. When I first switched to 64 bit a full server scan (music TV and movie libraries) was taking about 90 minutes.
Christopher over at Stablebit Drivepool has always been clear that his software doesn’t support Plex. But the majority of users that buy it are Plex users haha. If I get a minute I’ll reach out to him and see if he can figure out if it’s something on their end with the 64-bit version. It looks like it’s just a problem with “Run a partial scan when changes are detected”. But the longer scans don’t bother me to be honest.
This is basically my exact setup. Movie and TV libraries on externals HDDs, music is on the internal C drive (not SSD though). About 6k movies, 63k episodes and 20k tracks. The anti virus exclusions didn’t have any effect on my scan times when I added the Plex folders mentioned earlier, maybe I’ll try it with the external drives added.
There is absolutely a difference in scan time. I have pretty decent specs, so I assume it would actually be even worse for me if not. I’ve had Plex for years and never had scans take this long. Yes, if I turn on partial scans after a long scan it is faster, but it’s still nowhere near as fast as the 32 bit versions. I have my media very well organized. All internal drives. They are all pointed to a Movie or TV Show folder and then have their own each individual folders.
It takes me around 25 minutes to scan nearly 35,000 movie folders. In the past I believe it would take less than 5 minutes. I have tried adding to the virus scanner and that didn’t seem to make a difference in speed at all.
I am wondering if I potential have a failing hard drive that could be causing this issue.
