Preview: "Universal" PMS build for macOS (a.k.a. M1 support!)

It won’t work. You can try but you will run into an error. You need to manually update using the link I provided.

Naturally, a couple hours later a new build is released. :joy:

But seriously, thanks for the update!

It does work, I did it as well. But it is quite unstable… long load times and such.

Now updated my build with your link. Hopefully it works alright now again.

Just downloaded and installed latest. Went smooth. loaded quickly.

Is the Auto Update working. I swear I was running the Universal Version and I got notice for the update

No. As stated in the release notes and above several times.

But also as stated a couple of posts ago, you may get the prompt to update (I did in the tvOS app) but it won’t work. So that was a legitimate question I think.

Yes. And that happened a few days ago so no need to jump down the guy’s throat about it.

Okay, guys. It’s clearly stated that auto-update doesn’t work. We all know it doesn’t work. They’ll update the original post when that changes; no need to keep discussing ad nauseam and sending notifications to those of us subscribed to the thread for actual updates. Thanks.

Sorry to trouble you. Could you point me to the thread about what to do when your client prompts you to update this server version? Then we can discuss it there.

Hi, I manually (replacing the PMS app in Applications on MacOSX) installed version 5897 universal just like I installed the first version 5797 universal but now all Plex Clients (Android TV, IpadOS, iOs, Plex media app and even web interface) are giving me “Something went wrong” when connecting to the 5897 version.

I had to install manually the 5797 universal version and it worked again

Any ran into this same issue with 5897 or have a work around?

I downloaded 5897, made sure PMS wasn’t running, dropped it on my Applications folder, told it to replace the existing app, and fired it up. Might want to try downloading a fresh copy and give it another go.

As I said I was running the Universal, I got the prompt to update, I ran the update and it was the latest version and it was Universal as well. So maybe the update is now working?

Are you sure it actually updated? The Web client will go through the process and show the message about your server updating, but nothing actually happens to PMS. Reloading Web will bring up your home page and appear that PMS is back up and running, but it never actually shut down in the first place.

If it did somehow update, then your machine is magic and fixed a bug on it’s own.

Any news on how long, days? weeks? month?

When I looked at the version on the machine before I downloaded from the link and reinstalled. it said it was 1.27.0.5897 I got a request to update via watching on my AppleTV just selected Update tonight. Thought I would check it out came here the follow day see a new version had been released. Went back and double checked to make sure it didnt update to the Rosetta version and it said it was the Universal version.

The latest universal version is 5897, which you said you had installed before this magic auto-update. Sure, you’ll get a notification that there’s an update, but it’s impossible for it to update to a newer universal version that doesn’t exist. It may have acted like it was updating but failed (that’s the current expected behavior), but there’s no way it updated to a universal version that doesn’t exist. If you can provide screenshots showing that it somehow successfully updated you to a later universal version, I bet the devs including @anon18523487 would be thrilled to see that as this witchcraft may save them a lot of work.

News about what? If the question is when it will come out of preview, that hasn’t been decided yet.
