- Can we get support for a Music library with singles instead of albums? I’ve got over 3,000 singles and I’m really, really tired of explaining to people that Plex has no concept of a single. (So I have 1 album with thousands of Track #1 songs and album artist is Various Artists…yeah, that’s really lame.)
- Can we get a library for ebooks? We have Calibre, but if Plex really wants to be a media server, it’d be pretty easy to cough up ebooks. Regarding the library scanner…if Calibre does it, so can you!
- And speaking of ebooks, how about hooking up a decent AI TTS reader like Speechify, NaturalReader, etc.?
- How about a podcast library? I don’t suppose it’d take much to clone ‘n refactor the Music or TV libraries, right?
- Can we get at least a rudimentary ID3 tag editor included?
- For music libraries, could we get better support for scanning external repositories for music info, not just the couple already included?
- How about a decent Search feature? Using the GUI for searching for content is such a royal PITA, especially on TVs without a decent remote where all we have to “type” with is a 4-way tilt panel. It’d be especially useful to search by all supported metadata, not just the few high-level things like Genre or the general text search, e.g. select a metadata tag and value, maybe add some verbs for composite searches like “Title = fire and Released >= 1980 and Release <= 2000 and Title != house.
I do this stuff in my day job. Do you guys need help?
PS Do we have to request fixes to bugs that’ve been around for ages? I just had to install PMS 4 times on a Win11 PC because each installation was borked somehow. And then when I had ot rotate my acct pswd due to the recent Plex hack, I had to figure out all on my own how to get Plex working again. (Turns out, just shut down PMS and the service, restart in reverse order…the point is, why’d I have to go through those gyrations at all?)
