I would encourage you to read the linked thread.
In it we discussed how the Apple TV does support atmos from E-AC3 audio containers.
If you are saying the Plex app does not playback atmos from E-AC3 then you likely have a support issue.
Otherwise as the previous thread mentioned, atmos from a TrueHD container will only be supported if passthrough support is added/implemented on the AppleTV.
Infuse is also only able to playback atmos from E-AC3. It cannot playback atmos from a TrueHD container.
Your question is valid on if/when support will be added, but there’s only so much to be done on the aTV when Apple is the blocker.
Are there plans to make compatibility tracks more accessible to decrease the need for transcoding? Perhaps a server owner setting would be interesting?
Photos functionality in main app (or separate Plex Photos app)…for slideshows with music playlists.
Fireside Note: We would be happy to discuss these topics but they seem to be Feature Suggestions, please add to or join existing conversations there for these.
Can we get support for a Music library with singles instead of albums? I’ve got over 3,000 singles and I’m really, really tired of explaining to people that Plex has no concept of a single. (So I have 1 album with thousands of Track #1 songs and album artist is Various Artists…yeah, that’s really lame.)
Can we get a library for ebooks? We have Calibre, but if Plex really wants to be a media server, it’d be pretty easy to cough up ebooks. Regarding the library scanner…if Calibre does it, so can you!
And speaking of ebooks, how about hooking up a decent AI TTS reader like Speechify, NaturalReader, etc.?
How about a podcast library? I don’t suppose it’d take much to clone ‘n refactor the Music or TV libraries, right?
Can we get at least a rudimentary ID3 tag editor included?
For music libraries, could we get better support for scanning external repositories for music info, not just the couple already included?
How about a decent Search feature? Using the GUI for searching for content is such a royal PITA, especially on TVs without a decent remote where all we have to “type” with is a 4-way tilt panel. It’d be especially useful to search by all supported metadata, not just the few high-level things like Genre or the general text search, e.g. select a metadata tag and value, maybe add some verbs for composite searches like “Title = fire and Released >= 1980 and Release <= 2000 and Title != house.
I do this stuff in my day job. Do you guys need help?
PS Do we have to request fixes to bugs that’ve been around for ages? I just had to install PMS 4 times on a Win11 PC because each installation was borked somehow. And then when I had ot rotate my acct pswd due to the recent Plex hack, I had to figure out all on my own how to get Plex working again. (Turns out, just shut down PMS and the service, restart in reverse order…the point is, why’d I have to go through those gyrations at all?)
We addressed a couple of these items in the answer post. For the list of requests, please feel free to explore those in the Feature Suggestions forum area.
One of my favorite now defunct features came with the Tidal integration. The ability to pull up a movie or tv show episode and see the music from that particular piece of media.
Are there any plans to reincorporate that type of feature?

Are there any future plans for PMS to scrape mkv headers to automatically set certain playback settings of a movie/show?
For example, when I have a blu-ray rip with a forced subtitle, despite having the proper default/enabled/forced flags set on the subtitle track in the file, I always have to manually select the track in Plex before/during playback.
It’s a bit frustrating when I forget to select the track and discover it during playback or if my family members don’t know to do so.
You have an issue with your language settings, or a bug in your playback app. It’s not the place for a file to dictate what tracks are used. “Default” and “Forced” are flags used to identify the type of track it is, so the player can select settings correctly per its own user-set preferences.
Hi i love anime so my question is any way to add changing which voice cast you see ie see the English voice cast instead of the Japanese (yes I know there is an addon but wondering if you guys could add that)
There has been a lot of discussion on the new Roku app and how people really liked the old one much better. The biggest complaint is the loss of the left-hand vertical library list. Another complaint is that Playlists are no longer listed in the libraries. I have a number of playlists that were visible with one click on the left-hand Library list. Now you have to drill into each library and click over to the left-hand icons to see Playlists related to that library. Why don’t you just make “Playlists” a Library entry like it was in the old interface where it could be pinned in the left hand navigation pane (ie Vertical tabs, not the new hard to use horizontal tabs). If you did this and went back to vertical tabs, more people might be able to accept the new interface.
In addition, ordering my libraries is extremely cumbersome since you have to select the library, push the “*” button and then move the library. You have to do this for each library. On the web app, all you needed to do was click the 3 dots “Action” on any library and select “ReOrder”. You could then easily drag and drop any of the libraries to how you want them to be ordered. This is another good reason to get rid of the Horizontal tabs and implement a vertical tab interface. Web browsers have been touting the new option for vertical tabs as the “Modern” approach. Plex had this and now it is gone. On that topic, I actually did this a few days ago but when Plex released a new update, I lost all my favorite settings and consequently all the reordering. It also set the default view back to recommended when I had set it to Browse. Hopefully the next update won’t do that.
Whats the story behind the urgent security patch that had to be applied to PMS and why couldn’t we access Wikipedia information of actors and actresses for a short time while browsing our library via an internet browser?

I’m a big fan of the platform and have many questions. I’d love it if you could address as many of these as you can!
Can we expect design and feature parity between clients in the future? It’s frustrating to have different features available or unavailable on any given platform (e.g. rewind on resume).
Is there work to make the quality of experience for clients more consistent across the various platforms? Are some platforms planned to be deprecated? It was frustrating when first starting to use Plex to try and troubleshoot issues and find the online recommendations to be “just switch to a better device” (I specifically had trouble using Plex on my Xbox Series X, and then moved to AppleTV)
What things have you learned during the release of the new app experiences this year (mobile, Roku)? What changes or tweaks are you expecting for those platforms in the near future? How have these releases impacted the rollout of new experience designs on other platforms?
If Plex plans to implement features utilizing AI, will there be the option to opt out for users that don’t wish to use AI? Better yet, could this be opt in for those that do want it?
What is the mindset when designing new features or UI changes? Is there a focus to provide options and customization, or are they planned to be more prescriptive?
In the Fireside last year, there was frequent mention of things being “in the backlog.” Would it be feasible to have a publicly facing roadmap detailing what features or requests are being prioritized, and an idea of when to expect their release?
Is there any update on NFO file support for local metadata management? Will this be a native feature, or be something to come from the community using the new API?
With mentions of AI features here, will it be possible to disable this and only have it enabled as an ‘opt in’ feature.
In a similar vein, will the AI features be able to use locally self hosted AI instead which is in the spirit of homelabbing and the self hosted nature of Plex?
Fireside Note: See this answer around AI for more context. We also have no current plans on offering local AI features.
My questions goe more into an engineering perspective. I’m running on Kubernetes and I was wondering if:
there are plans to offer options to decouple the database from the app itself in order to support a more modular architecture?
it is possible in the near future to also decouple certain CPU heavy tasks like transcoding into separate worker units (like pods in my case)
Both questions are around the idea to remove pressure from the main app and to have a more maintainable and dynamic architecture (of course both features would/should be optional).

Is there a timeline for when Downloads in the new Plex Experience app will work for tv episodes? Specifically, the ability to download a season or show, tell Plex to download the next 10 unwatched episodes, and have it download new ones as they are watched? And then to show the season in the downloads, not the individual episodes.
This was a great function in the old app.
Fireside Awesome Question! Note - this is either a dupe or very similar to the question posed here. Hopefully that answer covers what is being asked here!
I have many friends who have families and would like to create sub-accounts for their children so that they cannot watch all the horror and action movies rated 18+.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. Although I allow multiple streams per user, my friends’ sub-accounts cannot see my data.
Why is this not implemented? All other streaming services allow you to create sub-accounts for children. It can’t be that I have to use up slots and waste 3-4 slots per family when it would also be possible with more streams and sub-accounts.
Because a friend can also play 3-4 streams at the same time, but can’t use sub-accounts for this? That’s somehow completely wrong and not a good sign for Plex’s protection of minors.
The problem has existed for years, but somehow nothing is being done about it, and no one has ever made an official statement about it in the relevant forum threads. I think it’s an important issue and would therefore like an explanation as to why something like this isn’t being implemented. It would be nice to receive a response or solution from Plex.
