So, when do you roll back the disaster that is the UI “update”? About 100k of your users are LIVID.
I want to know what is the status of the NFO support, last year you said it was already started:
NFO support: build out your own metadata! Having the ability to have local files with the specific metadata for titles that you want to see int he way you want to see it. This project is already kicked off with a target release next year.
Thanks!

I have two questions:
- I’m discovering Plexamp and quickly falling in love with it. BUT I find it to be a critical flaw that there is no method to view All Songs by an Artist. Can we except this simple, but impactful update?
- Not too long ago there was mention of Plex expanding media to include ebooks/audiobooks. I think this would elevate Plex’s offering to brand new audiences. Personally, I’d like to see podcasts make a come back as well. Is there any update timelines for new media for Plex?

Fireside Note: Also a callout to the assist on the first question from @jasonwoerner ! Thanks for the reply on how to view all tracks for an artist!
Is there any more info to share regarding the release of the new Android TV app Plexperience? Are we days, weeks, or more likely months away from the initial beta release?
Thank you!

Thank you for all your work on the Plex Suite. I love what you have created.
- When I try to AirPlay my Plex Video content to my Sonos speakers, it will only play one thing and then stop. I want to play my music video library and let it play all day.
- Plexamp does not integrate as a Sonos Service very well. Names of playlists and playlist artwork does not show up.
- Please allow us to sort our Plexamp playlists. My playlists are getting huge and I need an easy way to sort and search for an artist or song.

You celebrating at the same time as still missing an easy way to compensate for audio delay, is just embarrassing.
Question: I’ve recently learned Plex music library’s integration with AllMusic.com reviews is proxied through musicbrainz. I’ve started adding AllMusic links for albums in musicbrainz that lack them in order to facilitate Plex’s ability to grab reviews properly. But even after this is done, I’m not sure how long it takes for Plex’s metadata to catch up. I’ve checked back weeks later and not seen the review present.
Is there any likelihood this chain of connectivity between Plex, musicbrainz, AllMusic, and perhaps other data sources will be streamlined, quickened, or otherwise improved? Do you have any advice for those looking to “fill in the blanks” when they see no review in Plex that they do see in AllMusic?
Hi,
Do you plan to provide a better solution for bug management, visibility, and resolution?
Overall, Plex works very well, but some bugs become quite exhausting over time. I’ve spent a lot of time writing posts to report them, but most of the time, as users, we have no visibility on whether they are being reviewed, acknowledged, or fixed.
This creates the general feeling that our bug reports are pointless, which is both frustrating and discouraging. Personally, I sometimes feel ignored.
Plex is a fantastic tool, but this barrier between your team and your customers makes it seem like the community is not truly being heard — whether it’s about bugs or feature requests. For feature requests, I can understand if they are deprioritized, even though it’s frustrating as well. But for bugs, it really feels like they are being ignored, when they should actually be treated as a priority and not pushed aside.
Thanks!

Will we ever be able to DVR any of the Plex Live TV shows? (not the OTA stuff which is already supported)

You can view all tracks by an artist by first going to Track view, then filtering by any Artist Name or Name(s) you wish.
Count me in for caching plex content so we don’t need an Internet connection
Place the home videos into a TV library media location. They will not match any existing show. But if you name the files properly, you will get an interpreted result showing the “show” and its “episodes” based only on their file names. Then you can manually fill in any TV show related fake metadata that you like. However, making up casts to match your family would require a deeper dive into database modification. So this easy solution is limited in scope, but gets you started. If you put your home videos into a Videos library, the metadata seems to be the same set you get for a Movie (i.e. Studio, Director, Genre, etc.)
Would it be possible in future updates to change actor pictures and have a forum for correcting issues in the filmography section?

@McWanke my question is… why is it that after all this time, plex inc is still not all that great at bringing people from the community into the fold to have us help you evangelize and help roll things out? There are several people who are high-signal QA capable folk, who try to help y’all improve the quality of new experiences etc– but you won’t roll out anything alpha to us, instead using some random youtuber who’s making a plex-pro-week video about it? (common sense).

Hi there.
I’ve been using Plex for years at this point and I wanted to thank the team for all your hard work. I have some questions I was hoping you’d answer on some features, quality of life upgrades as well as moving forward.
- Watch Together: Loved this feature when it was introduced but actually used it to sync viewing between different AppleTVs in my own home. When my wife wants to finish watching in bed but I wanted to stay up, we turned on watch together so the playback would be in sync. If watch together isn’t coming back, is some kind of playback sync possible?
- Sub-profiles: I have kids that I don’t want to have to create their own profiles for, and I have content I don’t want my kids seeing on my account. Are there any plans on creating some way of having one main account, creating individual profiles under that account, and then be able to pin lock access to some accounts and content lock other profiles?
- Media Editions: I often have various editions of the same movie, i.e. director’s cuts, theatrical, regional variants, etc. I’ll rename the files and sometimes the edition shows up and sometimes it doesn’t. The most annoying part is when I go to play the file, I select play version, and it doesn’t list the edition edits, it simply provides the resolution. Is there not a way to make different editions more user friendly and can we make it the default to ask which edition we want to play?
- TV Movies: This has always frustrated me. Sometimes tv movies can be put in the movies library, sometimes they have to be in the tv shows library. Can you clarify best practices for tv movies? Also, is there a way to link TV Shows and Movies together, for instance if I select Firefly, I should see Serenity in my Movies as an example of related media?
- Dolby Atmos and HDR on AppleTV: Can you explain why Dolby Atmos isn’t available on AppleTV. I also have issues with HDR content, usually Dolby Vision, where the red levels are blown out and the picture is super saturated.
- Multiple filter search: Are there any plans to introduce multi point filtering when searching the Plex library? Right now if I filter by year, I can’t filter by genre or by resolution on the AppleTV.
- YouTube Library: In order to avoid the insane number of YouTube ads I see, I have started downloading YouTube videos for offline viewing automatically. The problem is, they don’t really fit into Movies or TV Shows. Are there plans to expand into this type of content?
- Cast profiles: So there seems to be two different systems going on when it comes to the profile pages of cast members. For instance, if I’m in my movies library, and I select an actor, it takes me to a list of all their movies in my library but not tv shows and vice versa. However, if I’m in the search or the discovery tab, it takes me to their profile where it gives me their bio and full filmography. Are there any plans to sync these two worlds together or have a settings option to let one choose which they’d rather see?
I hope you can answer as many as you can and I look forward to your responses. Thank you again.
Fireside Notes: Thank you for the list of questions. Many of these have been answered or addressed in some way. Please see:
- Watch Together AMA answer
- Profiles - we support Parental Controls on managed accounts currently and the ability to add PIN codes to managed accounts as well. If this isn’t directly answering the question here please feel free to clarify as a Feature Suggestion
- Media Editions - thanks for the feedback here - not much else to say at the moment other than passing this feedback along
- TV Movies - yeah a long time frustration ideally we would support a mixed library type but it isn’t work that is currently happening
- Dolby Atmos AMA answer

Plex used to do this, under the Plex Ninja program. People brought into Plex’s internal slack, given early access, asked for feedback, and so on. This was alongside Plex’s own internal QA. I was part of the Ninja program, and later joined Plex full time in QA. Plex wound down the Ninja program several years ago for a variety of reasons. To the best of my knowledge, the only part of Plex that still gets regular input from everyday users, where they get early access, is Plexamp.
With the New Experiences starting to launch on more and more platforms, it might be worthwhile to restart this program.
Is there a way to change configured GPU in plex without crashing the current transcodes? I’d love to be able to script / schedule moving from my igpu to discrete gpu under certain load or at known time of day when activity is high. That way I don’t have to use all that power idling the discrete gpu
