I’m getting an error message sometimes when deleting a recorded show on the Plex DVR running on FireTV. It says “There was a problem deleting this item.” But, I can wait a few minutes and am able to successfully delete the item. I’m running Plex Server on a Windows 10 PC with local C:\ drive storage. This is not a critical problem, but it is annoying.
I’m having a similar problem. I record shows with both Next PVR and Plex DVR (just set this up this week) but I am unable to delete some shows recorded with Plex DVR just after I watched them. I’ve checked that “Allow media deletion” is checked… The file on is not marked ready only… And there is nothing going on in Status under Alerts, Sync, Conversion, or Now Playing. I’ve tried deleting via my Roku (like I normally do) and via Plex Web. It says please check your file permissions in the Roku. Only by stopping and start the Plex Media Server (PMS) could I delete the show. It seems that PMS still had a lock on the show even though the Plex Web does not show it in Status and it was recorded days ago. Have you tried a restart of PMS after it fails to delete and see if it is something similar?
Having the same problem. It’s intermittent. Some programs can be deleted immediately and others force me to wait till the following day.
After getting the error “There was a problem deleting this item!” I tried deleting the file using Windows 10. Windows can’t delete the file either because the file is currently open by the PlexTranscoder.exe. I don’t understand why this program can’t release the video file immediately after watching it. Happens about half the time. I’m guessing this is a Plex Server software bug. Why would the PlexTranscoder software be holding a file open after it has been closed by the Plex App?
